Hi Members,

Anyone tried to apply for TRV for dependents outside Canada while the principal applicant PR application for protected person is still processing? If yes, I would like to know the opinions from those who did it successfully. Thanks all.
Hi,
You don’t need to resubmit the full application for each dependent. You just need to check off the boxes on the checklist (for the documents and forms you’ve already submitted) and send it to IRCC through the webform.
In my case, I didn’t send back the checklist at first. Later, when I ordered my GCMS notes, I found out that my file had been removed from the DR2 pilot because IRCC didn’t receive my response before the deadline. I then sent a webform explaining that I had already submitted all the required documents with my initial application.
About a week later, IRCC sent me the checklist letter again and said that if I had already submitted everything, I should just mark the boxes and send it back.

Thank you for your responce and explanation, but in the form dosent have check list ! Could you please give me the check list imm number that I can download and resend, but i already renewed all forms and send back to them! Dose it make a delay or something! I would appreciate if you can share your dependents timeline line as well

If IRCC didn’t send the checklist, just send them a webform explaining that you’ve already submitted the required documents. It’s a good idea to attach copies of the same documents and forms you previously submitted as proof.

Make sure you respond to IRCC, even if it’s just an explanation letter or by resubmitting the same documents/forms. It’s important that they receive some kind of reply from you.

For regular processing IRCC only starts processing overseas dependents files AFTER the principal applicant becomes a PR. Your dependents access to PR is based on your PR status, so until you are a PR your dependents file is not processed.

I am a protected person in Toronto and my partner lives in India (never been to Canada), she was on my application from day 1 as my common-law partner.

Here is my timeline:

Feb 2022 - Submitted PR application for both of us

Jan 2024 - PR granted to me

Feb 2024 - Confirmation my partners PR was sent to the local office (New Delhi)

Sep 2024 - Additional documents requested for my partner

Sep 2025 - Biometrics (partner)
Today we received the Pre-Arrival letter from IRCC for my overseas partner (this is the first time we receive it). Hopefully that means something is moving. I'm so f*&% tired.

Did anyone get any useful information from GCMS notes for their overseas partner? The last one I got says they are still checking her eligibility
