outland application mailed - Last name change to come

Hi everybody
Our outland application was delivered to CIC on December 4th, 2015. We are waiting for our marriage certificate now, after we order and get it my wife (the sponsor) will change her name to mine. After she changes her last name what happens? do we need to let CIC know of that? if yes then how? does it affect the processing time?

Once you receive Sponsor approval and know the VO that your application is going to you will be able to send them an email about the name change. I'm Curious to know why you didn't wait and send your marriage certificate , as it on the check list.

Ok thank you! We'll need to send them documents or just let them know?
We didn't wait because my status expires in January and in order to extend it for a year we have to provide a proof of PR application being sent to CIC, so we included the solemnization of marriage and indicated that we'll send the certificate once we get it.

The are going to want your marriage certificate so with that you can inform them of the name change . If you got married here in Ontario make sure you get the long and short form .. CIC seems to vary on what they want. Some has been asked for the shorts other have been requested the long. Not sure if all provinces has different sizes.

Oh thanks for the tip! i was wondering about that. But how do we inform them about the name changes? in a form of a document or we just tell them about that?

The are going to request it. It was part of the sponsors application, you may not get SA with out it . So if you are lucky enough to get an SA you will have a file number on it and a VO contact . They want a copy in most cases so you will be able to email it to them . You have to wait in the mean time to see if the application gets as far as SA then you will have all the information you need to proceed.

Thank you, lets assume they'll ask us for it, we have to wait another 64 for days after we mail it to them or it'll be faster?

likely the 64 days then they will ask for it ..

I mean after they ask for it and we mail it to them, we'll have to wait another 64 days to proceed?

No they will give you a certain amount of days to get it to them .. it maybe 30/ 45 or 60 depends on the officers request .

Yeah but i mean lets assume that we mail it to them and they get it 3 days after they ask for it, they'll put us back in the queue (64 days) or they'll proceed from there immediately?

they will proceed from there, So when they ask for it, they give you say 30 days after that 30 days they re open your file and go from there.
