Outland applicant is getting married to CDN sponsor. Applicant wishes to have a vehicle while waiting in Canada for PR to be processed. While they are not legally allowed to reside in Canada (no OHIP, SIN, etc) they would still like to have a vehicle to drive while they are here in Canada.
Is it best to;
1) Bring their new car in from the USA and drive it here while they wait? (This may be problematic with insurance provider in the USA, plus local police might have issues with applicant driving around with foreign plates. Also might be problematic at border? especially if they want Canadian plates)
2) Get a new vehicle here in Canada? (not sure car dealers will sell or lease a car to a USA citizen. Anyone have experience with that?)
Any ideas would be great.
