Hi all,

I applied for my for my work permit in the US but it got denied due to an overstayed back when I was 18 years old. I just received my B.S in nursing and passed the Nclex.

I was wondering if there is a could apply from the US (out of status) for a Canadian Student or Work Visa.

I will try to get in contact with nursing agencies in order to find a sponsor. I have also looked up some nursing certificates that would allow me to get the student visa and then work as an RN (OMNI College).

What are my chances of getting a work visa applying from the US?

What are my chances of getting a student visa applying from the US?

I have no experience as a nurse.

Thank you,

Your post is a bit confusing.

Are you saying that you are currently in the US and have no status there (i.e. are in the US illegally)? If so, then you have no chance of being approved for either a study permit or work permit for Canada from the US.

Or have I misunderstood your question?

I entered the US with a student visa. Thats how I obtained my BS in Nursing.

However, before i received my student visa i had a visitors visa. I committed an immigration violation by staying more than a year in the US while i had the visitors visa. The US immigration agency barely found out and now they just canceled my Student Visa.

So yes, now i am illegally in the states.

Hmm... One overstay and now a cancelled USA visa, and to finish off, you still have not left the country? I would guess, zero chance.

I would look at ways to see if you qualify for Permenant Immigration at www.cic.gc.ca

Unfortunately given your previous overstay and your current status, Canada will be not be willing to grant you any temp stay visas (visitor, student, work permit) with the risk that you might overstay your visa here
