My status after receiving WP-EXT for PGWP?

Hello, I just received my Completion Letter from my college a few days ago. I then applied to PGWP, and later I received this message on the IRCC portal saying that I can be able to work full-time. At the same time, I am applying for my PR as well (by using the HONG KONG Pathway). When I tried to fill out the form IMM 0008, one of the questions asked about my status in Canada and my start and end dates.

I am confused about my status - Am i still a student or a worker? The start date - Should I input the start date when I received WP-EXT msg if I select my statu as a worker, or should I put my study permit start date and the due date if I select student?

Would strongly encourage you to try to find another pathway to PR. If you go through H&C for HK it could easily take 5+ years.

In short, you're now a worker, start date being when you received WP-EXT.

But the OP would be eligible to continue staying in Canada that whole time and keep renewing or obtaining open work permits on that basis. It's actually not such a bad deal if you have no other options or don't mind waiting.
