Must have been same receptionist Ahmad saw :-X I'm sure this icon looks like her!

We were told it could be done in a day or two if not on the day itself, and so we've planned to stay in London on the 5th (interview) and 6th...and of course Thursday is the 7 ;D

Hopefully it will be a little different as we will actually be meeting our officer, so we will have someone with us who could open some doors for us. We'll be sure to explain the situation to him as we don't exactly live around the corner of Grosvenor Street and refuse to leave the passports with them 2 weeks before our wedding.

The tension is building up, but first thing on the agenda is July 1: tomorrow is Canada Day (La Fete du Canada)!!

Hey Shiraz,
I had to send my partner to the High Commission due to an important meeting. I was told there was quite a queue but it went really fast and that the process was very efficient. They checked our documents and they knew right away that we were 'from Ottawa'. They took everything and told us they would call us when they are ready for collection because they were stamped as high priority.
However, they said they could not promise us that it would not take 2 weeks anyway, but that it shouldn't (i guess thay say that to cover their backs in case they have delays).
We will see... at least I am happy that the passports are off my hands and that in two weeks maximum I should have it all sorted. I have my eyes on a flight for 21 July, hopefully the price does not go up by much till I get my passports back.

Hey Ed, I just got back from CHC with my passports stamped with shiny new visas :p Now to book flights so I can land in September and return back and tie up everything this side so we can move early next year. So looking forward to it, hope you get your passports back sooner than the 2 weeks.

Ed, have you booked your flight for July or going to? and who are you booking with coz flights are expensive in July. We were planning originally to fly over in July but decided for September as theyre a little cheaper especially with Airtransat. London Gatwick to Edmonton Intl approx £1500 for 3 of us.

Dear All,

Congratulations to those who have received their passports back with the visas! All the best to all of you.

Please help me clarify regarding RPRF - we just had our medicals last June but we did not receive a notice to pay the RPRF. As per the courier our medical results were received by London on the 24th June. Last May 12, I got an e-mail from Ottawa to send updated PCC and we are given 90 days to submit, unfortunately as of now, we havent submitted it yet since my UAE residence visa is just recently stamped and we just applied for PCC.

About RPRF - when do you think we receive this request to pay?

Many thanks everyone

Hi Journey, the RPRF is requested when they ask for passports. At least, that is what they did in my case. By doing a bank draft in CAD as they required, they know that the money is readily available from your bank entity and out of your funds (as opposed to a personal check, which may bounce back if funds are not there by the time the money has to clear).
I know some applicants have been asked to pay the RPRF before passport request, but I am not too sure if they were London or Ottawa applicants.

Shiraz: I will not buy my tickets until I get my passports back. I do not want to risk it, so I would rather wait. I will land in Toronto, but tickets are about £640 for each of us. July is like the most expensive time of the year to travel to North America. I may end up going with Air Canada, as the price is not that different from Air Transat and Heatrow airport works better for me. I am hoping I can pick them up next Thursday. Hopefully the price does not increase.

Hi unfairsystem, I'm one of the fortunate ones who's file was not passed back to London for QA. I received PPR directly from the Ottawa office. I'm sure someone here may be able to give you information about the QA.

I just looked at Air Canada website. You can also check BMI website, as they codeshare with Air Canada and may be cheaper sometimes when you book codeshared flights. At least, that is one of the things I learned from 4 years in the airline industry but it depends on the alliance between airlines.

Opodo.co.uk is quite good but they have booking fees. It is always better to do it directly through airline in case there are issues. Airlines would not speak to customers who booked thru agents and will send them back to them, which can be a pain in strike, adverse weather or even volcano situations.
