IRCC call center said Ottawa is sending new files to other offices as they are anticipating longer shutdown due to truckers. Existing files will remain there for now. I asked to forward my file to another office so they can complete the certificate validation and they said they cannot. They asked me to open a webform if I want my file moved.. I don't think that will work anyways.

So basically anyone who applies from now won't need to suffer with the crazy long processing times in Ottawa, but everyone who applied before is basically doomed and out of luck? Probably new applications in Ottawa might get processed before our applications get processed o_O Too bad they wouldn't send new applications to sit in Ottawa for the next few years and instead send the ones already in process to other offices so they aren't delayed even longer than they already are! :(

Ya, I might need to take a break too. It's frustrating at the Ottawa office. I'm quite tempted to withdraw my current application, and then reapply once the citizenship fees are free. And then it'll get sent to a different office other than Ottawa to process! They should almost stop accepting non-urgent citizenship applications and just finish the backlog they have now, and then open it again once they've caught up... Rather than process new applications quickly and forget about the older ones.

Perhaps a better form of protest than setting fire to businesses, looting and tearing down statues. As for work, their livelihoods are at stake for a bodily choice anyway they got very little to loose.
My concern here is for IRCC office to open, that will only happen when they're gone. They've took over the streets and closed the roads for 21 days, i think thats enough, point made, but ottawa is paralyzed and needs to get back to normal

I’ve been talking about a petition to House of Commons to put a freeze on all new applications till the backlog is cleared. I’m a Mississauga Oct 2018 applicant.

Hi everyone,
First time poster but long time lurker here. Thanks for all of your advices in this forum! I just recently received my oath invite and it’s coming from the Niagara Falls office even though I live in Ottawa. This is also the first email I’ve received from IRCC with an office name (never got my test invite email) so I’m not sure if my profile got moved there or was always there…
Is this a concern?
Also, any idea on how quick/slow NF office is with issuing certificates after oath?
Many thanks and wish everyone best of luck!!

Wow!! You are very lucky to have been transferred to Niagara Falls office! Glad you didn't get stuck in the Ottawa backlog. Congrats on having your oath soon! When did you apply? I suspect NF will process your certificate quickly like all of the other offices. Printing certificates quickly only seems to be a big issue in Ottawa.

I know all the steps are slow at the Ottawa office. However, I guess the only step which is completely dead is the certificate process. I have a suggestion only for those who are in the certificate process. I am not sure if that possible, but can we hire an attorney as a group of Ottawa applicants. Then we can share the costs among us, or at least hire one individually. A great attorney can push them easily since we have paid for the service. Somebody did that last year after 5-month certificate delay. It had a great result. Here you can read his/her comments.
