I had applied online for travel visa on April 15 and today (May 07) I received a notification asking for my original passport. I plan to send it to the LA office and I had a few questions about that:
1. How long will it take for them to return my passport?
2. If possible, I will personally drop my passport at the office there. On their website, I noticed that if I plan to personally hand in the passport, I need to give them my contact information (phone number and address). Whereas if I mail them my passport, I have to give a self-addressed USPS express mail envelope. What is the return policy different in these 2 cases?
3. On this forum, I noticed a lot of people complaining about their passports being lost in LA office (even though they had the confirmation from USPS about the receipt). This concerns me a lot. Is there a way to avoid this?
