I have my citizenship test on Jan 31 and I realized that I dont have my landed passport and COPR with me as I have submitted it to Indian consulate when I applied for my child's OCI three weeks back. I called BLS today and they say it is still in process with the Indian Consulate. Can I go to the test and explain my situation to the officer who verifies the originals or should I try to go to the Indian consulate and get my originals tomorrow? Please note that I have my current Indian passport with me. I landed in Canada with my previous passport, so I had submitted that along with the COPR to BLS.

Please advise on what I should be doing. Thanks.

If the missing passport covers your eligibility period, then it is best that you procure it somehow.

Alternatively, you can go to the test and explain, possibly with proof. However, no one here can say what the outcome will be. It completely depends on the officer who will be interviewing you.

Do you have a photocopy of all the pages of this passport ? Best to take that along.

Going to the interview without your current valid passport is a stretch. It is THE main document to support many claims on the application form. In the worst case, I would rather cancel the OCI application for your child to get the passport back and then reapply after you had the interview.

Ask them if you could borrow the passport and copr,
that's what I did when my passport was for renewal, I asked the Phil. Consulate if I could borrow it and they agreed.

i did mention that i have my current passport. it is my expired passport that is given to BLS. they wanted it because it was my landing passport.

Oops sorry, I clearly misread your post. I agree with what pie_vancouver said above, then.

Hi guys, i want to let you know that i went to the Consulate this morning and got my original documents. they had finished the OCI verification, so i dont have to return it to them. thank you all for your valuable inputs.

i went to the test today.. all good. they did check both of my passports and the COPR.. so it was good that i went to the consulate and got it.
