Hi,
I'm hoping to get my Openworkpermit renewed by Jan 2012 , while my previous work permit expired in sept 2011.

We called up OHIP office and they told us that even if we have our new work permits, since it took more than 3 months to get my OWP extended, I might have to undergo a 3 month waiting period.

the only issue that scares us is I'm due in Mar 2012 and I might get my OHIP benefits only by Apr 2012.

Can anybody pls help on whom can I contact to expedite the 3 month waiting period ?

Or is there any chance to talk to health authorities and explain my situation ??

However be advised that insurance won't cover any costs related to pregnancy since this will be classified as a pre-existing condition.

If you are in Toronto, there is supposed to be a free clinic somewhere. You can ask around. Otherwise, look into getting a midwife. It is cheaper if you have to pay.

hi, hope you enjoying your new family member:-)
Just wondering if you got OHIP coverage? As I am Canadian Citizen but have been living outside Canada for past few years our OHIP is expired and now I am back. My due date is July 31. I am already registered with Midwife but still giving birth in Hospital.

Would like to have OHIP at earliest but as far as I know we have to wait for 3 months. Is it possible to get it waived? any adivce please. thanks

This poster hasn't been active for the past 3 months. Here is a recent post about medical expenses for delivery in Ottawa:

BTW, I thought you are intending to live in Calgary :D
