In case people don't already know....

So I just happened to log on to my CRA account today and noticed that there has been some upgrades by CRA and I can now access certain information that were not there before. One of such information is "our friend" Option C print, which there has been countless queries about. I personally had to phone CRA in Dec 2015 for a copy. Looks like that is not the case anymore, as you can get it online. You only have to log on to your account and under the 'Tax Returns' tab, Proof of income statement (option 'C' print) is listed.
Hope this helps someone ;D

Some people are able to access their option C online and some are not. I'm curious to know why that is.

That is really interesting cos I couldn't before. Could it be that once you request it, you can access it online?

That could be the case. I was pretty sure I checked before in the last few months and couldn't see it, but I just checked now and there it is. Weird.

CRA did significant upgrades to their system last week so it should now be available to everyone who has their CRA online access setup. This makes it so much easier!!

It sure is. CIC has updated the sponsor checklist as of Feb 2016 to reflect this.

The document checklist was updated this month and now says that the sponsor needs the Notice of Assessment from the CRA website, not the "Option C", which is what some people have previously and successfully submitted with their application. (Apparently, there's a bit of a difference between the two).

Hi plz help

I still can send my option c printout that i got by mail or need online notice of assessment ?

To be on the safe side, I would print out a Notice of Assessment. It's easy to get online with CRA. I don't think they would return your application because of it, since I've heard that the Option C has a more detailed breakdown of the information, but I personally wouldn't want to risk having my application returned over something so small.

Odd, I was able to print out the Notice of Assessment on the old CRA site, but now they ask for that instead of Option C. I always thought it was because the Option C showed if you were on social assistance whereas the NoA didn't. But I guess that is not the case.

I know, I don't really understand why they changed it. It seems a little pointless.

I'm getting ready to submit all my documents and at the bottom of Sponsorship Evaluation form (imm 5481) it says to include option c.

But the new checklist doesn't ask for option c anymore so should I still submit option c to be on the safe side?

If you can, print out the Notice of Assessment from the CRA website and include it instead of the option C. Since the checklist has been updated, it's very unlikely they would return your application for not including the Option C, since it doesn't ask for it anymore. Make sure you include the updated copy of the checklist and double-check that all your other forms are up to date.

If I remember correctly you and I both sent our applications in around the same time in Feb - mine was received on the 9th. I know the checklist has been updated in Feb - I sent in the checklist with the option'C' included but no assessment as I don't think it was updated when I sent my application in - just wondering if you think this might pose a problem for us who sent in the now older version checklist.

thanks,

I don't know exactly when the form was updated, but I know it was later than the 9th.
