Open Work Permit

Hey there everyone, I just have a quick question I am in Canada on a International Experience Canada Open Work Permit from July 2015 until July 2017, and I submitted my Sponsorship Application along with a new Open Work Permit Application to CPC-M which arrived there not so long ago.

Because my current Open Work Permit expires in July this year there is a chance I will not receive my new open work permit by July 2017 what should I do in that case as I need to maintain legal status here in Canada during the processing time.

If anyone can provide me with information that would be appreciated. Thanks

As you applied for the OWP with your inland app, you will have Implied Status after your current permit expires. However, you must stop working at that point and can't work again until your OWP is approved.

Yes, I am in the same boat as my current work permit (also IEC) expires at the end of this month. Right now there's still hope that I get my new OWP within the next days, because I see people that applied around the same date getting theirs now. If not I get to stick around on implied status, but stop working until I get my hands on my OWP.

Okay perfect thank you for reiterating that with me as I have seen on numerous pages that people who have IEC work permits don't have the benefit of implied status which must not be true.

My current IEC Open Work Permit expires on July 31st 2017, however if I don't get my new Open Work Permit before then my employer is ensuring I don't work past July 1st 2017 just to be safe, and employment will resume again once I have my new open work permit.

I just wanted to ensure I will be under implied status, I don't mind waiting for my OWP.
