hs202 is damn right! Opp Ontario advised me the same thing in writing which was rather a disappointment.

Please can someone tell me if:

i.) I have a PGWP and intending to switch to open WP.
ii.) ben nominated under masters pilot of Opportunities Ontario and hv filed PR.
iii.) Have a job offer and currently working in that job (1 year renewable contract for up to 2 years)

Can I not just apply for a WP online or do i still need lmo if im already working in that job?

hey chibiks: did you get answers to your questions? .. I am in the same boat, the only difference is that i have permanent job rather a contract, working in RIM as "software developer".

Hi Albert,

I am in the same situation as you (Pilot Master Stream Nominee). My Post-Graduate Work Permit will expire in June. I am a full time employee at TD Bank. Do they issue work permit to the person who already has a job?

Thanks a lot
did you get answers? I am trying to send you a PM but your inbox is full .. could you share the details.

Hey Guys,

I am in the same boat, did you try renewing your WP what happened?

opportunity ontario has screwed us big time with this hidden clause which is only on their FB page and no where else.

Once you are extending your permit you need a new LMO

I'm a bit confused with so many contradictory statements provided on the the respective visa office, CIC, and the PNP websites of respective provinces. I did not even submit my original nomination certificate to Buffalo as a photocopy is sufficient according to some of its pages. The pages found on the Buffalo web and on AINP and some pages on CIC however require us to submit an original copy. :-\

Now here I'm reading that Ontario will need an LMO for a work permit extension. However, on this page here:

cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-permit.asp

it doesn't seem to even need an LMO for a work permit.

Anybody has any update here?

Hello. I would like to ask if you can give me advise or suggestions on my current situation or any of you have the same situation and what have you done to get your work permit.

I am the spouse of a PGWP holder. My Open work permit will expire on Aug. 30, 2014 and currently employed. I applied for renewal/extension of my work permit but CIC refused my application because they said "it has been determined that you are not a person whose employment will create or maintain significant employment, benefits or opportunities for Canadian citizens or permanent residents".

"As the spouse of a holder of a Post Graduate work permit, you have not provided sufficient evidence to prove that your spouse is employed in an occupation that falls
within the National Occupation Classification Skill level of 0, A or B. You may be eligible to re-apply for a work permit if you are able to provide proof that your spouse is a skilled
worker in Canada, which may include a letter from your spouse's employer, stating his/her job title, duties, and salary. If you cannot prove that your spouse is in a skilled
occupation, your application for a work permit cannot be approved without a Labour Market Impact Assessment from Employment and Social Development Canada."

My wife who is the PGWP holder just graduated last June is actively searching and applying for jobs. I am also thinking of discussing this to my employer so that they might be able to help me thru LMIA. I currently work for Maple Leaf Foods as MRO Specialist (NOC Code 1215).

We are also in the process of applying for our Provincial Nomination thru Master's Graduate Stream. If in case we got approved with our Provinvial Nomination, I am thiking of applying again and presenting my certificate/nomination (but I heard even if you have nomination CIC will or might require you LMIA/LMO).

Hope you could share your experience or knowledge about my case. Thank you.

Hi,

I just want to update that I've got my WP extended for 3 years same as my wife who is a PGWP holder. My wife doesn't have a job yet (but still actively seeking). I'm not sure if the PNP Nomination helped us because most of the post I read here that have applied for WP extension was asked for LMO/LMIA. Thank you Lord :)

Hi Friend,

Any one in IT. Please send me inbox message so that i can refer some jobs.

Thanks,

Hey Surender,

I am almost in the last phase of getting PR. I am nominated by Ontario. I have 11 years of IT experience. Currently in India. Is it possible for any company to apply for work permit. I heard they can bypass LMIA approval in my case.
