Hi.. Im really very confused about getting my Open Bridged work permit. i have applied for My PR and got My AOR by Dec 2 2013, where as my work permit is going to expire by Aug 2014. now i dont have any job, i have quit my previous job and now looking to find a new job. while applying for the open bridge work permit, in the application they are asking me to mention whom i am working for and how long i would be working? i couldnt answer for this question as i am not in any job right now. my question here is
1 .will i get my bridged OWP?
2. what do i mention in the application for my employer details?

Looking forward for an answer :(

Thank you

For BOWP it makes no difference whether you are currently employed.

I assume you are talking about the "Employment" section in IMM 5710 - where it says "Current Activity/Occupation".

The instruction guide (Guide 5553 - Applying to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada - Worker: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5553ETOC.asp) states:

If you do not work, describe what you are currently doing (retired, not working, going to school, etc.).

Thank you, yes i was mentioning imm 5710 E.

also at question 3. in the imm 5710e application it has 4 options to be selected,
i chose the one which says restoration your status as worker. but when i proceed further it shows the top 2 options in red which is
* A work permit with the same employer
* An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer

but here i am trying to get an open work permit right ? so which are the right options to choose?

Thanks

It is a confusing question for open work permit applicants, because it is open, so your employer is not involved in the process at all.

What the question is really asking is, whether this is an application for an extension (it isn't). Select "An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer".

Although, by all accounts, for open permits it makes no difference which one you choose (indeed, I selected the other option and got my BOWP just the same).

Also, are you sure you meant to select the "restoration" option? BOWP cannot be obtained in restoration. You must apply while your work permit has four months or less before expiry. Is this not the case?
