Open a bank account in Canada - Are you tied to the branch?

Hello everyone,

Moving to Canada soon and I have a question about bank accounts for which I can't manage to find an answer on Google.
When you open a bank account in Canada in a physical branch, are you then tied up to that branch?

In Italy, where I live at the moment, when you open a bank account in a branch, after that every time you have a problem or you need to make an operation at the counter, you must go every time to that specific branch where you open an account (and not other branches of the same bank). And it's not that easy to change your branch of reference.

I'm landing in Toronto, staying the night close to the airport and was thinking to go to a bank nearby on the following morning to open an account, but I just want to make sure that won't tied me up to that place!

Thanks all,

Depends on the bank, but if you choose a national bank or a large credit union, you are generally not tied to that branch.

I haven't been to my branch of the bank I use in ten or fifteen years.
