Hi - Now that I have immigrated here as a PR, I am eligible to sponsor my parents to become PR. I am curious about the OAS and other benefits they can receive as seniors (over age of 65). I know the minimum requirement is at least 10 years of staying in Canada after age of 18. Do they count the 10 years by the days ? Does the time when they were here as visitors (before PR is approved) count towards the 10 years ? How much approximately can they get (from OAS and other benefits) assuming they don't have any income ? Thanks.

It’s a cumulative 10 years, so the time you reside in Canada. Time before your PR is approved won’t count if you were i a visitor visa.
How long have you been a PR?

Think you are getting a little ahead of yourself. Looks like you have recently landed as a PR. You still need 3 years of meeting the minimum income requirement and then you'll have to enter the lottery.

As a PR you can sponsor your parents to become PR themselves, but its a long arduous process.
1. Each year only 10,000 parental (complete ) application are processed.
2. All the (complete) applications go into a randomised ballot and 10, are picked for processing. And as
@canuck 78 mentioned, you do have to qualify financially by submitting Canada Revenue Agency's Notice of Assessment for 3 previous years from your date of application. If you are a 2 person family unit, you have to show income of $39,813 for 2017, $39,371 for 2016 and $39,618 for the year 2015 to qualify financially. You can, however, include the income of your spouse or common law partner by them co-signing the application and their income will be included with yours to meet the minimum requirement.
