OINP (recent) Success Stories!

I see a lot of threads helping to go through the immigration process (thank you all) but can't find one where those who already did it just summarise their success path. (Let me know if I’m just a bit lost around the forum…)

So I make this thread with that purpose. Share with us some details about your success like:

• EE application date;
• CRS score;
• OINP application date (or was it automatic from EE pool?);
• Response times (when were you contacted for each phase);
• Approval times (when were you approved in each phase);
• What did you struggle with? / Tips to avoid it?
• When was it mandatory to go to Canada to get something done*;
• When did you finaly landed/started living in Canada;
• Any other details you’d like to share.

I’ll tell you about my current situation for context:

• I’m still gathering the required documents to apply for EE.
• I’ve requested the certificates from my university for the ECA;
• I’ll probably be taking IELTS in a month. I’ll need to score S/L/R/W - 7/8/7/7 in order to get the minimum 67pts to apply, so my CRS minimum score (418) is based on that;
• I have no French knowledge, never lived in Canada and also got no job offer.
• I’m speculating to get a CRS score between 418 and 430.
• I’m an IT Consultant/ Business Analyst (NOC 2171) which is one of the 15 NOCs in the “Ontario in-demand Occupation List 2019”. So it gets my hopes high

Looking at the latest EE draws I see it is almost impossible to get an ITA with my present status...

So my only chance would be to get those sweet 600pts from a PNP program. As I want to live in Toronto, OINP is my target. And it would be nice to read some stories about getting into Ontario/ Canada EE with less than 430 CRS score.

Plus I’m still working aboard in a stable job/position this is the reason I asked when it is mandatory to actually go to Canada. Even if it’s only after getting everything done is there a time frame when I have to go? I have a 2 month notice period in my current contract so I’m concerned about that.

I am also in your situation with NOC code 2171 and CRS score of below 430.

I have yet not entered the pool and still confused about NOC wether it should be 2171 or 2173. I somehow feel 2173 has more chances of selection then 2171 but I am also concern at the same time that to use NOC code 2173, education should also be related to computers or software where as in 2171 mainly talks about business applications so business management studies may work.

The whole point to write this is I read somewhere that for PNP from Alberta or some other province, work experience and education should match.

NOC 2171 Totally relates to IT, I didn't mention it but I have a Bachelors in Computer Science.
I can present work experience both as 2171 or 2173. I've also seen somewhere (sorry I can't remember the link) that 2173 was in 1st and 2171 2nd places of the most NOI's emitted by Ontario in 2019. So I guess there's no big difference, I'm just going with 2171 for my own reasons as that's more in line with what I like to do and the career path I want to have.

If you really think it makes a difference to get a NOI by choosing 2173 (or some other NOC) over 2171.

I have done Btech in Electronics and Communication Engineering but i am working in noc 2171. Would it be an issue as its different than my education or should i choose noc 2133 which relates to my education? Please advise.

• EE application date : October 19th 2018
  
• CRS score : 439
• Received NOI in my CIC account : Jan 14th 2019 (Crs dropped to 434 because of age after NOI)
• Submitted OINP application : February 15th 2019
• Acknowledgement received/Assessment : February 19th 2019
• Decision in progress : March 8th 2019
• OINP Nomination received : March 15th
• New CRS points : 1034

• EE ITA : March 20th 2019
• EE Submission /AOR : April 17th 2019
• Medicals Passed/ Biometrics instructions: May 29th 2019
• PPR : JUNE 25TH 2019
• Landing by God's Grace in August 2019

• Decision to relocate to Canada was conceived in 2017. It was not easy getting all the requirements but i didn't give up.

As far as I know what really matters are the duties listed in your proof of work experience documents (like reference letters).
If those are in line with the ones of NOC 2171 then you should be fine.

I'm also preparing for IELTS as it's the only way to boost my score (other than getting an LMIA approved job offer...)

BTW, do you have any tips on how to get those marks on IELTS? Any particular method that really helped you?
I need a minimum of L/R/W/S 8.0/7.0/7.0/7.0 but my goal is 8. 5/8.0/ 7.5/7.5 (basically the ones you had )
