Hi
My parents came to Canada in Aug 2017 and received the PR Card and OHIP Card in Oct. 2017 stating 'Became PR on Aug 12, 2017'. During their current visit they have completed the 153 days criteria to maintain the OHIP Insurance. They are planning to return back to India in Feb 2018 for 4 months and come back in May 2018. My question is about the stay during May 2018 - July 2018 in Canada. Will this period be counted towards 1st Year or should this be counted against 2nd year.

The rule says " at least 153 days in any 12 months period".

I am assuming the 12 month period started in Aug. 2017 and will end in July 2018.

Thanks
VAG.

Hi

It is a rolling time period, like the PR Residency Obligation. At any point in time, when they look back 12 months, they must have at least 153 days in Ontario.
