that is great news Tannygirl! I've updated your timeline on the spreadsheet to reflect your SA on January 13th which judging by ECAS is when you've been granted SA. Shame it didn't come by email or you would have had it last week!

In general, because I'm bored at work, I've cleaned up the colour coordinating on the spreadsheet. October is getting there, yay! :D
Thank you PrairieGirl! You're a darling!
Good luck with the process ahead! Hope it goes really fast for you! :) :)

I just noticed a very interesting thing while checking my E-cas page,

in the first two pages before you enter your UCI number and other personal details to login,

the first drop down menu asks you "which category you applied under" (Sponsorship)
Second question, "More specifically which category did you apply for"
(The answer for me is "sponsorship of a spouse OUTSIDE canada" )

But when I selected the option of "sponsorship of a spouse INSIDE Canada" , they let me log into the ecas page!

Does this mean they are processing it as inland or outland??

Both options are working when I try to login!!

Is this indicative of the changes made to the new forms wherein they don't ask you which VO your file will be transferred to after SA? Does this mean that they can process it as inland or outland irrespective of what you've stated on the PR application forms? ???

what does your SA letter say? ECAS is not a true indicator of what is going on with your application. if your information works for outside of canada i wouldn't worry. the system is signing you in basd on the file number and/or uci number. to know *how* your application is being processed, check your SA letter. it will tell you what visa office it is at. if you received an SA letter, then it's outland. Inland applications don't get SA so quickly, the process is completely different, and inland sponsors are not notified that the applicant's application was "sent to a visa office abroad". Read your SA letter, or if you haven't gotten SA then, you need to be patient because that means your applications hasn't "really" started processing yet. If your SA or AOR says the application is for "in family class" then you need to call your MP. otherwise, you are just freaking out about nothing.

and no, applications are not automatically "inland" just because the applicant is in canada and there is no choice in visa office anymore. inland and outland are different applications, and just because there might be a random file here and there mistakenly is put in the wrong file, it doesn't mean all are.

Thanks for the info rhcohen.
I am outside Canada right now, and my husband (who is my sponsor) has not received the email, but it says that "a decision was made on 13/01/2015 regarding your sponsorship application; please consider delays in the mail before contacting us"-
so it's probably on it's way by snail mail!

Under the principal applicant's column (me) it says "application received & medicals received"

I just hoped if they processed it as inland by mistake, I'd get it sooner. The timeline for India (where I am) is 15 months! :(

Thanks for your help! :)

if you are NOT in canada, there is no way you can be processed as inland, as it REQUIRES the sponsor and applicant to be living TOGETHER in Canada. you are fine. stop trying to "figure out" everything, and wait for the letter from CIC. you are not going to be able to figure things out until it's communicated to you. Again, ECAS is not to be used to figure out what is happening with your application, as it's generally updated AFTER something has already happened.

Also, i would double check the processing time for new dehli on this forum. Rule #1 of outland processing is that the times posted online are misleading and represent "worst case scenarios". for the most part, visa offices process applications much faster. i'm pretty sure you'll find the "real" average for ND is 8-10 months, not 15.

stop signing into ecas, stop trying to find things that are "wrong" and trust it will all work out as it should. it always does!

Thanks rhcohen, you're so kind and helpful! God bless you and your positivity! :)
I'm just frustrated with how long this process takes, and yes, NDVO processes files in 8-10 months.
I'm going to watch some Parks & Recreation and stop obsessively checking Ecas! :p

Have a great day ahead!! :)

Thank you rhcohen2014, your such a helpful person..this info takes all the burden out of me, I think email communication from CIC is much trustworthy since its in writing than ECAS..
Im pretty sure this process after SA will be a smooth one since rhcohen2014 is there to help and guide us :)

Sorry, but isn't Family Class used to describe outland applications? Now I'm the one freaking out, as our AOR says "This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received". I assumed this meant outland.

family class refers to both inland/outland/parental...any type of family sponsorship.

if it was inland it would say family in canada class. the fact your says sponsor a member of the family class and does not say in canada class means it is outland. stop freaking out.

I second that. We have seen people receiving AOR and letters specifically saying in Canada.
In my AOR it also says This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received and in my SA the same with the visa office's address at my wife's home

If you have got SA check that

SA ... wishful thinking! Spoke to a manager at CPC-M yesterday and she looked up our application and said it would be another 10 to 15 days for SA (the application was received on 31st October, so just letting other applicants know). Of course it's CIC, so you always have to take their words with a pinch bag of salt!

You got your AOR on the 17th correct, then from the trend you can expect the SA in about 6-7 days

My ECAS status changed.

I already got an email with the SA letter so why is it saying they will deliver by mail?
We sent you a letter on January 17, 2015 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
