Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your support on this forum.

I became a Canadian Citizen yesterday - Mississauga office - with 98 others. The ceremony was soo amazing and good. The judge was just perfect - I love her. Its been a crazy journey but thankful that its all over. Total time was 9 months. Applied on October 12th. All the best guys! Keep hopeful! Your time is coming soon :)

Thanks ALL! I am now Canadian!

Called the IRCC and got the info that my application was sent to Scarborough in the middle of July with the status: ready for test invite. Can't wait to get it eventually...
Admin, you can change my location from Toronto to Scarborough unless it's better to wait for the actual test invite to do it. Thank you!
so jealous but congrats... every time I call always background check...

AOR in Dec 16th
IP Feb 7th
nothing since...

I applied from Grande Prairie AB - are we being left behind because of our location? this is frustrating specially when you know that March or even April applicants are ahead of you in the process...

Still waiting for my US border entry/exit report.
Is there any way to get the word out to new citizenship applicants on this forum about the massive delay in the US for these reports?

Basically, if anyone here who applies for citizenship that has spent any amount of time in the US or enters/exits the US a lot and was present there with something other than a I-94 it is likely that IRCC will ask you to make a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the US Customs and Border Protection to verify border crossings between the US and Canada. IRCC needs to see this report to verify the number of days physically present in Canada.

The wait for this report is exceeding 6 months due to the high number of these requests being made by others due to the family separation issues on the southern US border. Many of these requests are being made by immigration law firms. Normally, there are only 10 or 15 requests made per week at most. Currently, they are receiving 100s of requests per day and are processing only 5 or 6 per day. The backlog is excessive.

I made my request in April and am still waiting. I can see where I am in the queue on the US FOIA web site and from the slow rate of processing, it seems I will be very lucky if I receive my report before the end of this year.

For anyone who might think they fall into this situation when they apply, I HIGHLY recommend making the US FOIA request immediately after you submit your citizenship application to Canada. Do not wait until IRCC requests this report at or after your interview, due to the long wait time to receive this report. The requests are free so there is no reason not to apply immediately.

The report is requested for the five year period preceding the application so once the application has been submitted to IRCC, the five year time period for physical presence in Canada is known and should then be used to make the FOIA request post haste.
