Doc printing status dispatched from MEA and document received at Toronto 26 July everything same date

Same status change here.. OCI 5th jul

I thought that OCI was printed in India....now seems its done in Toronto

I am applying for OCI card, I am Canadian citizen previously I was holding Indian passport.

I just have one question,

My husband is in India he never been to Canada do I still need to provide his documents like passport copy, marriage certificate ?

One last question- in the application form for minors, do we have to sign the declaration part as well (on page 2 of Part B)?

A minor making a declaration didnt make any sense to me, so i didnt fill the top declaration part. Just filled the bottom part titled "Application for Minor Child". Thumb impression where is said "Signature of the Applicant" and both parents signed in the blank botton half.
OCI number issued today so sure it works.


If you call BLS like my frnd did, they will ask you to fill the top declaration too.

So seems like either way is fine.

Went to submit my Surrender+OCI forms. It's like visiting a passport office in India. Mayhem.

One line for walk-ins. That shit's going to take forever.

One "line" that is not a line for those with appointments and those returning with missing docs or photos or what-have-yous.

The security guard is dual purpose like in a typical Indian govt office. Poor guy's gonna go mad dealing with covid distancing + BLS madness. He's not super polite but isn't rude either. Efficient at what he's doing.

We missed mother's name in my application so I had to redo the forms, get them printed at the BLS center (0.50cents per page) call my wife, get it re-signed etc.

A lot of the forms mentioned online aren't even taken. So much of it was returned to me as unnecessary.

The lady by default added 129+35$ so I was staring at 330$ on the machine. I asked it's "129+ what" and she silently said "Courier charges". I had to convince her to get rid of it. It's ridiculous because there's a poster mentioned "VAS + Courier optional", and that she never bothered to even ask me.

I wonder how many just go with it anyway. I saved 70$ (two applicants) on Surrender application by refusing courier service. Unsure how much for OCI courier. Probably another 70$.

Since you surrendered in person and didnt pay for return courier. Did they email you when original docs were ready for collection or you just followed the online tracking ? Also did you book an appointment for picking up the originals from BLS or just walkin ?

How abt your OCI ?


I was so pissed at BLS that I had sent the OCI (No surrender) application via CanadaPost and did not pay for return courier either. My application status changed to "Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping" and am just wondering what next ??

My application status on BLS has a nice comment saying "Not paid for return courier "

Hi All,
I have a question regarding OCI application.
I came to Canada in 2014 as student and then got work permit after graduation. I became a PR in 2017 and got married in 2018.
I'm an Indian citizen.
I sponsored my wife to come to Canada as PR and she received it in 2019 and came to Canada.
We got separated in 2020 and we're not in talking terms after that. I will become citizen soon.
We are still legally married but separated in Canadian marital status.
India doesn't have separated as marital status in the application form.

I have a question regarding OCI process.
In the documents to be submitted, if you are married they ask for spouse landing papers and passport.
I wouldn't be able to get these documents from my wife nor I could submit a divorce certificate.
I became PR as principal applicant through CEC express entry in 2017 and not through sponsorship.

Could I submit my OCI application without my wife documents and just with my documents (landing papers, Indian Passport) ?
Was anyone in similar situation and got OCI from CGI toronto office?
Could you please guide on what action I should take or to whom I should reach for guidance on OCI application.
