Hi, if someone can please answer-
Do we have to submit the original documents - Copr, Canadian passport and citizenship certificate?
Indian passport we need too. But how about Canadian documents?
I am planning to go the bls office to do it. Not going to mail them.

According to the BLS on call query, currently they need photocopy of COPR, Canadian passport and citizenship certificate, surrendered Indian passport and surrender certificate.

Original Indian passport is required for minors or if you have not completed the surrender process.

OCI delivered by purolator today ( 23-OCT-2020). Waiting for the cancelled Indian passport.

The OCI Status on BLS Website is showing as "Passport ready For Dispatch after OCI stamping" while that of the Passport is "Processing at Consulate General"

Hi, can you please tell me if you took appointment before going to brampton BLS?
I called them and they said you need an appointment and there are no slots till 10th nov.
And they are not booking any slots after 10th.
I am in a fix, it seems they want you to apply through courier.

They didn't require an appointment when I applied in Sept. Possibly the increased number of covid cases since then might have prompted them to provide service based on appointments.

I don't think there should be a problem to apply at BLS Toronto if you live in Brampton. But you never know what BLS personnel think. Better to check with them beforehand.

Toronto did not have a slot before 10th either, so I opted for Purolator thru BLS. They will pick up tomorrow . I guess
that is what BLS wanted. On the other hand, I want my OCI quick too, so a few $$$ more will be worth it.

Hi justrajdeep. Since you have personally submitted your OCI application on 28th Sep 2020 in BLS Toronto, can you share the date of application being shown in status tracking of BLS website. In my case my application was picked up by Purolator on 25th Sep 2020 but in the BLS tracking system date of application is showing as 1.10.2020 and Status showing as Processing at CGI Toronto but on CGI website it is saying no such record found. Regards

Hello Chrisstina, what is your update on your OCI and surrendered passport?
Have you got any of them? I noticed your appl was acknowledged Oct 1.

I had to opt for pick up too as no appointment available. Purolator will pick up tomorrow.
Can you tell me when does status become visible on line ( CGI or BLS)?

What's the general timeline trend now for processing OCI application ? Customer service guys said its 6-8 weeks, BLS site says 4-5 weeks.

Planning to travel in Dec 1st week, obviously will book tickets only after receiving the OCI.

Also, is there any way the process is expedited ? Writing any email to cgi toronto or if anyone has done anything which is worth a try, please do let me know.

That is correct. I sent my ( surrender+ OCI) combined appl. by courier to BLS brampton , and the only original I sent was my
Indian passport.

They just need Original Indian passport it seems and that too only because i had applied for surrendering my passport. I called them thrice (so to speak with different representatives) just to be sure . The BLS checklist is NOT the most updated document out there. They say different instructions when we call.

Package received email was from BLS.
The websites update in 5 days’ time, I think.
