This does say you can use that but dealing with BLS can be tricky if they don't have it in there list.
Go for stamped bank statement instead and keep provincial ID as a backup option.

So I'm in a bit of a pickle with the ration card name removal (Maharashtra/Mumbai) and need advice.

My name is there on my family's ration card, the last time we used it to get anything was probably over 30 years ago. We moved to a different part of the city 23 years ago and that was the last time we updated the address on the ration card (only because back then the RC was still considered as an address proof).

At this point, we don't even know if our RC is valid (it's the old fashioned booklet; we never even had it upgraded to the laminated card). Any idea what I can do in this case to submit my OCI application? I've already tried looking up the RC on MH state's NFSA portal and it is a nightmare sifting through thousands of names.

You can take help of your local ration shop to remove your name if you have someone back home to do it. They can help you do it. Also they can verify if your RC is still valid. If not you can submit the no ration card declaration to BLS.

Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to Everyone,

I am back on this forum with a few questions regarding OCI application that I am filling up for my spouse ( Indian Origin) and submitting to BLS brampton via courier

1. We cancelled voter ID but she doesn't have a Ration Card. Do we have to submit any document that we cancelled voter ID or just Mandatory declaration ?
2. Under National identity number and previous passport number, there's no astrix * - did you fill something there or left it blank ?
3. When uploading documents online - did you self attest ?
4. Does spouse oci required if applicant is getting oci on self-basis ?

5. Are following documents required with self attested ? Please let me know if something is missing

1. printout of application
2. copy of india passport surrender certificate
3. copy of indian passport front/back with cancelled stamp
4. mandatory declaration form
5. copy of citizenship cert
6. copy of current passport
7. copy of marriage cert
8. copy of spouse current passport
9. copy of confirmation of pr/landing paper
10. job letter on company letterhead
11. proof of address - copy of DL
12. photo
13. Consulate fee and BLS fee

Any help is appreciated , thanks in advance

#1 only mandatory declaration is needed
#2 National identity will be Citizen ship number. If you don’t have previous Canadian passport then previous passport will remain blank
#3 I did for some but removed later when BLS suggested that’s not needed.
#4 Not sure.. you can always call BLS, and check with them.
#5 Follow checklist religiously and attached the same with physical or postal application. You can find checklist in BLS site.

Thanks. I don't think there is a ration card shop convenient enough for my folks there to go to easily, so trying to find a way that avoids them that trip if possible. And where do I find the no ration card declaration form for BLS? I do not see one in their checklist which lists the documents to provide at the time of application. Unless you were referring to the mandatory declaration itself.
