I kindly request assistance in a few areas. I would greatly appreciate the help.

1. When filling in the residence details, should I list the start date for my oldest residence as the date when I became eligible for residency, or the date I actually moved in? To clarify, my eligibility for residency starts on December 15, 2025, based on my physical presence calculations, while my move-in date at my oldest residence was October 1, 2020. Should I indicate the date range as December 15, 2020, to February 20, 2021, or should I use my original move-in date, which would be from October 1, 2020, to February 20, 2021?

2. For physical presence, since it is an online application, did you attach the printed, scanned, and signed physical presence document?

Thanks for the reply. Could you be able to share the link for that thread? I was unable to locate it.

My tracker got updated today. Oath scheduled for Jan 5. Waiting on an official email to see if it would be online or in person.

Can I apply for passport from the US after taking the oath in Canada? Can I come back to the US on the same day?

Are you living outside Canada?

Yes i had told ircc in May 2025 that i will be moving between 2 countries but my base perm address is still in canada. They had taken note of that and mentioned to make sure i am in the country to the scheduling team.

Got my oath invite today. It doesn’t mention whether I can bring my 1 year old son with me. He’s a Canadian citizen by birth. Do I need to get a sitter for him or can I have him with me during the oath? (I know I can bring 1 family member but does it mean I can have my 1 year old with me physically during the oath)?

The chances of them being against you having your infant with you are approximately zero. They'll probably be pleased When you get your photo/aoth chance, ask the citizenship judge to hold your baby, they'll be chuffed.

Couple of questions prior to the oath on Monday.
Is paper certificate better than e-certificate? We’re planning to drive back on Monday to the US (have to work from Tuesday). Seeing how they delayed my decision this much, I’m a bit wary about getting an e-certificate. Would I get the paper certificate on the same day itself?

Secondly, can I mail my Canadian passport application from US? I’m getting the passport photo done in Canada (for Guarantor signature behind passport).

If you're doing in-person oath ceremony, they will give you the paper certificate at the ceremony.

In my view, there is no difference and the paper version is even better, because you get a nice paper version included. For newer paper certificates (I don't know exactly since when but for years now), there is a bar code and IRCC/passport office websites say they'll accept scans/copies (without the original), which is the only advantage of the e-certificate. (IRCC/passport office specify for certificates of such-and-such series, which is all recent ones).

That said: the e-certificate is just an electronic format - anyone who wants to print up a nice version and frame it, you're limited only by the cost of getting nice paper and paying a competent printer to do it (you could do it at home too but it's a well-done document with subtle shading, specific colours, and gradients that may not turn out as nicely without the proper equipment). You could do it larger or whatever if you wanted as well (which of course you could get done with a good paper copy as well).

Finally the oath is complete! It's been quite a journey but happy to be a Canadian now officially.
Thank you so much everyone in this forum for your support and help during this journey.
Major congrats, sir! I’m sure you’re very glad to be done.
