I’m pretty sure I read something the other day about GCMS notes and a batch number being assigned to the application. Not sure if it’s just associated with PPR or not and I’m on my phone so digging for the links is a nightmare... @kcward7 any ideas on batches/groups?

Edit: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/gcms-notes-issued-post-ppr-observation-and-analysis.482478/

That was it... Google prevailed! :p
Interesting as always, thanks!!!

I'm positive this is the way it's done. It also explains why applications received later sometimes move faster. It depends on officer efficiency and workload. They are not processed in a strictly chronological order despite so many people believing that. I think in GCMS it's group name and number or something like that which eludes to batching.
Aha! Always happy to get some validation that my theories aren't so crackpot after all... ;)

Argh! My theory (of many...) is that they assign application files in small chunks/batches to officers, which is why they sort of generally follow the same timelines, but not exactly. If your officer is getting slowed by a couple of complicated ones, it ends up delaying you too. I'm sure your eligibility will go lightning quick once they actually get to it, though, and you'll make up the difference. At the end of the day, CPC-M is still processing things at an insane pace, so it's really all relative. (Also, love your stat-based answer, as always! :p)
I agree with your analysis, they process application in batches not in chronological order.

I wouldn’t call them crackpot, most of them seem to be right, or the data leans in your favour :p

Hi--
I am applying from the US and planning to move to Montreal. Things in my application seem to be moving quickly, so quickly that the Montreal documents are holding everything else up. I don't remember the exact timeline, but I received notice to apply for the CSQ in Montreal in mid-Feb and then waffled a bit getting it put together properly, so that I didn't send it out the CSQ application until late-Feb. I then mailed the application standard certified mail and got a notice on 3/12 that the application was received in Montreal. In the meantime CIC sent me notice that my CSQ needed to be in by 3/30 or I need to contact them with proof as to why the documentation won't be in. I'm not sure how long the processing in Montreal takes, but I know that the fee has not been withdrawn from my bank account yet and I don't know how the CSQ is sent to Mississauga (I'll send whatever I get when I receive it, but I'm hoping there's communication between CIC and MIDI as well). Anyway, my real question is how I can alert Mississauga of the situation beyond writing a letter with photocopies of my mail receipt. Is that my only option? Thanks.
Hi, it takes 4-6 weeks to get CSQ.
Our docs were in MIDI on Feb 28 and they charged my card on March 12th.
MIDI will automatically inform Missisauga and you'll get your hard copy. As for delay, contact to CPC-Missisauga via web form, explaining your situation.

It depends on the physican and the system they use. Usually 1-7 days.

Medical and AOR 2 are not correlated which means your file transfer email could be sent anytime. They don't even bother to give AOR2 these days.

Congrats!!!! We're also living in Germany (both sponsor and PA) and were transferred to Vienna just over a week ago. Would love to see your timelines too!

EDIT: Oh whoops, in my excitement I overlooked where you said you were transferred to Mississauga rather than Vienna. Our timelines probably aren't as comparable then!

@gercan - Did you get any kind of AOR2 from Vienna / do you have the line 2 on eCAS about the application being processed yet?
My husband (sponsor) received the E-Mail on January 28th which stated that our Application has been transferred to Vienna.
I don't exactly know what is being meant with AOR but he received his Sponsor Approval on January 22.

This is my timeline on ecas (PA side)

  1. We received your application for permanent residence on November 9, 2018.
  2. We started processing your application on February 1, 2019.
  3. We sent you correspondence on January 19, 2019. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
  4. We sent you medical instructions on January 22, 2019. To avoid delays, please provide us the information requested in the letter as soon as possible. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
  5. Medical results have been received.
  6. We sent you a letter on February 11, 2019. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us (Biometrics)
Vienna VO seems to be a very very slow office from what I've read in other threads. Still hoping for a fast process.

Thank you. My spouse has not received anything nor have I to say it has transferred. So we just wait and hope for the best.

Hi everyone, just an update on my end here. I got PPR on March 6th and only today did I finally hear back from Mississauga on further instructions on how/what to send to London. I'm required to upload some things onto MyCIC but there is no option to do so, so another webform has had to be sent, so prepare yourselves for that if you're from a visa exempt country!

Excellent! Thanks so much for posting! Your AOR2 is February 1, which tracks with what I've seen from other recent Vienna applicants. I will be interested to hear if you get a pre-arrival services email soon as well....

Yes, Vienna is slow compared to some, but from what I can tell it's still a lot faster than many other VOs (London, New Delhi, Mexico City, etc). If you look over the (few) timelines that you can see on the Vienna office thread here, it's actually pretty positive overall. And I still tend to think that those of us from visa-exempt countries (Germany, Netherlands, Austria, etc) are probably going to have an easier time going through there than the non-visa-exempt ones, and it seems like most of the people going through Vienna are in fact from non-visa-exempt countries (mostly Balkans applicants, plus a fair number of people who are residents of Germany, but are not citizens, some even refugees), so the tracker timelines might not be easy to compare from application to application.

I will keep my fingers crossed (or let's say my thumbs pressed ;)) for a speedy process for us both! Thanks again and keep us updated on your progress! :)
