What I learned in Canadian Immigration system, being proactive can screw things further. Do exactly what CIC asked for. If you do mistake then wait for them to tell you how to correct this.

Is there any expected timeline for CIC to inform/write to us about the mistakes committed and how to correct those?(Our applications were sent on 15th Nov. and received on 17th Nov.). Will they inform us separately or just send the applications back?

They will just send the entire package back by regular mail. Those that did get their applications back seemed to have got them within 3-4 weeks after delivery date.

Would request those forum members whose applications were returned by CIC due to either, photo not datestamped or applicants name not written on the back of the photo, to share the timeline after delivery date within which they received their application back from CIC. That will be big help.

For both Single and Family application types, photos absolutely need to be stamped and dated by the Studio.

For Single applications, forgetting to write your name on the backof photos has been acceptable, as several members reported getting AORs without issues recently.

For Family applications, if you clip each family member's photo to their own set of forms, IRCC has accepted it despite no names on the back. However, if you clump all family member's photos together, IRCC will have no way of determining who's who, and may return your application.

In any case, if your application is returned for this reason, you do not need to pay again. You can re-use the same fee receipt, attach new correct photos to the returned package and mail it back to them.

Case in point, my application. I had sent two applications as one package for me and my wife. She forgot to sign the back of the photographs, but I had attached both set of photographs to the application forms. It is always a good practice to keep all application forms (including photos) put in place together with a paper clip. We both got AOR and ECAS is active as of yesterday.

Congradulations, What does a AOR email typically say?

Literally just acknowledges that your application has been received. Provides a file number, mentions the UCI. Has an attachment which essentially repeats the same message along with a link to download the Discover Canada booklet, to help prepare for the test. That's about it.
