Welcome to Kevs, I will add you to the spreadsheet hopefully tonight! As well as make all the updates for Lindissa and Bibiche

I am wondering if there is anyone who would like to take over the spreadsheet.. as I will not be on the forum as often when Mr. M lands in the next month. I have no problem maintaining it, however it may be a little time in between updates, then again that is not much different that it has been!

Just throwing it out there if anyone is interested.

Congrats to everyone getting good news and for everyone else, here's hoping the wait flies by!!!

Hello everyone! As of Saturday May 18th, 2013 I am officially a Permanent Resident of Canada ;D
The whole process took a little over an hour, we crossed at the Sumas crossing in Abbotsford, BC. Pretty painless procedure and the woman that helped us was lovely.

Next up is applying for MSP, my SIN # and getting my drivers license!

Hey! congrats on the landing! about applying for MSP... if your partner is resident of BC already, then the waiting period should be waived. If you call MSP, or go to one "Service BC center", most likely they will tell you that you need to wait 2 months + the remaining of the month when you landed. So in your case, you would have MSP coverage from 1st August.
But it's not true! for spouses of BC residents who have applied for PR, the waiting period starts when CIC has received the application, now when you landed. It's not a very well known rule, so you have to "fight" for it, but it's on MSP website.

So - it's worth a try. Print out the page that I sent you, then print out the AOR from stage 1 ( or sponsor approval if you didn't get an AOR in stage 1), and ask for your coverage the waiting period to start from when CIC has received your application. Since you applied in NOvember, you should be covered already now, no need to wait and pay for a private insurance.
SIN # is easy - as long as your passport was STAMPED at the border when you landed, you can just take that + signed COPR to any Service Canada office, and they'll issue the SIN in 10 min...

It's the medical coverage for BC - health care in Canada is a provincial thing, so depending on where you land, the rules are different. I only know the rules for BC.
Alberta also doesn't have a waiting period, and people on visitor visa (even before PR) can get healthcare if their partner is a resident of Alberta.
Most of the other provinces have a waiting period.

We had the medicals on Feb. 18th (they approved the sponsorship the same day as I sent the copy by email with the postal registration reference number confirming I had posted it).
