My husband just received a letter in the mail saying we need to pay the "the right of permanent resedency fee" and submit a FBI clearance.

Does this mean he got the pr?

NO.. He need to submit FBI Clearance ( http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks )and pay $490.00 (right of permanent residency fee) https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/order.do?lob=8

I'd say that if they are asking for the RPRF, it means you are done, don't you people think?

agreed...once you submit the FBI clearance and the RPRF you are likely finished. don't forget even though you may submit the RPRF online, you still have to print, scan and send the receipt to Mississauga and they will forward to your VO.

Oh I thought I was suppose to send it straight to the VO?

He's here in Canada still on vacation...he's returning to the US end of month. We are going to go to our local police station and see if they can do the finger print for the FBI clearance.

It's ok if I print the form of the website right?

Their instructions were really clear for us to not send to the VO. having said that, it is possible that things are different for you (I doubt it but possible) and therefore I suggest you call the 800 # to be sure.

For the police clearance you could take a form from the CIC website (a good idea) but most police forces have their own which they will use which is also fine.

as for the FBI clearance what should i choose for the reason i need it. i only have 3 options to choose from....

FBI Clearance takes 4 to 6 weeks.

it's been such a long week for me and its only headed into thursday! i'm off to canada on friday, but shhhhh because he thinks i'm coming sunday. i'm gonna sneak up on him ; ) i haven't heard anything from CIC and i lost the receipt with the tracking number so i dont even know if they got my documents yet, but i'm sure its there there's no reason it wouldn't be. i haven't been expecting anything anyway. i'm thinking i might actually hear something while i'm in canada which would be awesome. i wonder if i get it before we go to niagara falls if i could just walk over the bridge and back and that be considered my landing. anyone know if that's possible? lol

So we got our MP involved in our case 2 days ago... yesterday they sent us a form that we needed to sign so they could formally inquire on our case.

Today, the MP's rep for immigration got back to us:

Tomorrow! Here's today's question- We don't have a car. We were going to use my sister in law's car to drive to the border tomorrow but her car broke down today so that seems to be out. The paperwork I received states that if I am already in Canada I can also use the Van Intl airport as a Port of Entry, and that I will need to leave Canada and re-enter. So does that mean I'd pass through the port of entry, essentially "leaving" Canada even though I'm physically there, and then coming back through Customs? Or do I have to actually fly out of YVR?
