Hi all,

I recently took my online citizenship test and passed, and yesterday I received my "Notice to Appear" for a video session for an interview and verification of identity/documents.

I received 1 Microsoft Word document and 2 PDFs in the email. The Word document and one PDF opened fine, however the second PDF cannot be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader. I have updated to the latest version, and tried opening this file on multiple different devices. The Word document explains what I need to do, and the PDF I can open is a consent form to use Microsoft Teams for the interview.

The error message I receive on the second PDF is:

"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Acrobat Read. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the Author for the original version of this document."

Has anyone else seen this issue, and been able to resolve it? Or do they know what this second PDF contains? The title of the document gives nothing away, and of course I cannot get through to someone on the phone at IRCC.

Any help or insights would be much appreciated!

Hi,
I am sorry I do not have an answer to your specific question. Could you please kindly inform me if the video call has to be taken from Canada (like for the test and the oath?).

I am temporarily living abroad. I was contemplating travelling to Canada to take the test and the oath (so potentially 2 trips). 3 trips would be a little bit too much given current travel restrictions...

Thank you in advance

Reply back to the email address provided in the email you received and inform them that you are having trouble with the pdf file.

Download the file to your PC/laptop. Update Acrobat Reader. Open Acrobat Reader and from there open the downloaded file. Will work.

Did this, but I'm not hopeful I will get a response!

Worked for me on both items: I opened it from within the Reader (make sure you are not just double-clicking on the file in folder, but are actually opening it through "File" - "Open" - choose destination, choose file. And yes, they did re-send the document a second time

The email said if you're outside, contact them immediately which I did. Now Kitchener office allowed me to attend interview outside Canada. See my signature.
