Not Meeting RO for PR Renewal

Can you please share details what happened at the land border, what questions were asked or documents you showed? What was the whole process? Also which border dis you use?

I entered Canada through Rainbow Bridge. When I showed them our expired PR cards, the officer asked how many years we had been outside Canada and why we stayed away longer than allowed. He also asked where we were planning to go in Canada.


I explained the reasons for our long stay truthfully, including my father's medical condition. However, the officer did not ask to see any medical records. I also informed him that I had a job offer from a provincial government, but he didn’t ask to see the job offer letter either.


They gave me a declaration form to declare the amount of cash I was carrying. After verifying the amount, they allowed us to enter without any issues.

Just curious..since the time you re-entered Canada via land border, have you had any situation that made you travel outside Canada, say via the land border to the USA for business or pleasure? Or you have never travelled outside Canada since your entry?

Since returning, we haven’t travelled outside of Canada because we didn’t want to take any risks. I’ll be back in compliance in two months, so I plan to apply for our PR card renewals then.
