hi all Smiley

i posted recently re pr cards that had not arrived - well, it seems that three now have but the fourth one hasn't - apparently because my daughter's photo was not up to the specs. and we are not currently in canada. the photos were sent to a friend's address. we're finding it's not that simple to wrap things up here, what with finding a buyer for our home, etc. not easy.

i know stuff like this happens, but as my other daughter, hubby and i now have pr cards what can we do? i found a post by PMM that i am not sure i understood correctly - plus it was dated 2009 - can we get her photo taken again, stamped, dated and sent to canada from where we are now? she can't enter canada without a visa with the passport she has now.

if anyone has been in the same or similar situation, i'd really appreciate any input. this forum has helped me so many times in the past, i'm keeping my fingers crossed you guys can do it again Smiley

all the best!

Hi,

if immigration sends a letter to your friends address stating that you should mail photos, you can mail the photos. If they require that you should come there in person with the photos, then of course you can't because you are not in Canada.

It will not be a problem for your daughter to get back to Canada. The only thing you need is to apply for a PR travel document for her at the Canadian embassy where you are now. You can find the application forms here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp

The only criteria to get a PR travel document is being a PR and meeting the residency requirements. In order to meet the requirements, you may not be outside Canada for more than 1095 days in the first 5 years since you landed as a PR or in the past 5 years if you have been a PR for more than 5 years. Since you just landed, it is not possible for your daughter not to meet the residency requirements yet so it should be easy to get the travel document.

Once you are in Canada again, you can take care of the PR card for her. If it is then more than 6 months since your landing, you may have to apply for a PR card for her again and pay $50 but it is not a big deal.
