Hello everyone,

I would like to know about your experiences regarding the background check (criminality/security) stage for a Permanent Residence application through the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), outside Express Entry.

Here is my situation:

  • Application received by IRCC: May 19, 2025
  • Biometrics completed: August 15, 2025
  • Current status: “We are processing your background check”
  • No additional document requests or medical exams so far.

I’m trying to understand how long this stage usually takes, especially for applicants under the New Brunswick PNP or other non-Express Entry PNP streams.
Your feedback would really help me estimate the expected timeline before the final decision.

Thank you very much and good luck to everyone with your applications!

Can anyone clarify, I am inland my spouse is outland so How will this work? Will they get a PPR first or both of us will get P1?
@Miss bee Do you have ay idea about this?

Hello @everyone,

I submitted my PR application in Feb 2025, and requested spouse addition in May 2025. I submitted all spouse addition documents including IMM forms in May 2025.

Till not there has been no updates, my spouse is still not added to my GC key.

Is there anyone who is in similar situation please share your timeline. How much time IRCC currently taking to add spouse in existing PR application. My application type is Express Entry PNP.

If you also requested spouse addition in your PR application and got your spouse added to your file please mention your timeline.

Thanks

@Miss bee Do you know any similar cases who got their spouse added recently or timeline

Thanks for help.

Hi @Miss bee
I got Fd on 1st October and COPR details on tracker but no PPR yet.

Please suggest what i have to do ?
Thanks
This situation is very common, especially for people applying outside Canada. Sometimes, there’s a short delay (a few days to a couple of weeks) between the COPR being generated and the actual PPR or portal instructions being sent. Wait a few business daysMany applicants receive the PPR email within 3–10 business days after FD/COPR details appear.Delays can occur due to VO (Visa Office) workload or system batch processing.

Based on recent experiences shared by other applicants, IRCC can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months—sometimes even longer—to process a spouse addition, depending on the visa office and current workload. In most cases, IRCC reviews the new documents, updates your file internally, and only then adds the spouse to your portal. Once that happens, they will typically send requests for your spouse’s biometrics, medical examination, and police certificates. Because your request has been pending for several months, it’s advisable to submit an IRCC webform asking for a status update on the spouse addition. Make sure to monitor your email (including junk folders) for any new correspondence from IRCC, as further document or information requests are common at this stage. Although the delay is frustrating, it’s normal and doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem—spouse additions often take a few months to be reflected in your online application.
