Hello @Miss bee

I have requested IRCC for spouse addition to my existing PR application after I got married.

I submitted all documents for spouse addition on 7th May 2025.

It's been about 4 months still my spouse is not added to my PR application.

My application was in final stage and received P2, but on advise of MP and IRCC did not submitted P@. COPR number on tracker disappeared.

As per IRCC they confirmed they received all documents for spouse addition and officer is advise to process spouse addition request.

I have been waiting for more than 100 days still my spouse is not linked to my PR application.

I submitted GCMS notes request on 21st July 2025, but have not got responce yet.

Contacted MP and IRCC multiple times but they always respond its in process and IRCC will contact if any information will be required.

What can I do at this point.

Do you have any idea how much time spouse addition takes for PNP PR applications?

Your response would be helpful.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Spouse addition to an existing PR application, especially under the PNP stream, often causes delays because IRCC needs to reassess eligibility, background, and admissibility for both you and your spouse before finalizing the file. While IRCC does not publish an official timeline for spouse addition, based on past applicants’ experiences, it can often take anywhere from 3 to 8 months or more, depending on the visa office workload and the complexity of the case. Since you already submitted all required documents in May 2025, it is not unusual that after four months your spouse has still not been linked, particularly because IRCC first confirms completeness of documents and then re-routes the file to an officer for reassessment. Your GCMS notes request should eventually give you clarity on where exactly the file is stuck, but those can themselves take 1–3 months to arrive. At this stage, since you’ve already contacted your MP and IRCC and they’ve confirmed receipt, there is little more you can proactively do other than continue to follow up every few weeks and wait for the officer’s review. Unfortunately, until your spouse is fully assessed and added, IRCC will not finalize or issue your COPR. While the delay is understandably frustrating, you are not alone in this situation, and the timeline you are experiencing is within the range of what other applicants in similar cases have reported.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I think I can not do much except to wait at this point.

I will keep following your responses and forum that is very helpful.

Thanks

Hi @Miss bee , hope you are doing well.
I'm a July 2024 applicant still waiting for FD. Yesterday, talking to the agent on the phone she told me that my SVO changed from Winnipeg to Montreal. is that a good thing? does it mean anything at all? last update on my profile was February 2025 nothing after that.
My SVO is Montreal since January 2024 and I would say this office is even worst than Winnipeg.
Stuck in SS since Dec 2023 with federal submersion of May 2023.
right now dealing with MANDAMUS and federal court backlogs.

seems your file is forwarded there for a comprehensive SS.
I wish you get cleared sooner than my case.

I'm stuck on SS since Nov 2023, did you send them demanding letter before Mandamus?
I'm so stressed and annoyed about process I dont know for how long I can hold on.

Hello everyone!
By reviewing August, 2024 spreadsheet it’s clear that IRCC doesn’t issue much final decisions for applications after August 15-Th. Does anyone know why it that?

@Miss bee I received today a letter from IRCC stating that "
We are currently processing your application for permanent residency. You now qualify
to receive pre-arrival services to help you prepare for your new life in Canada. These
services are only available to you before you enter Canada."

What does it mean? And how long will it take to get the final decision on my application? I have completed my medical and biometric just 2 weeks ago along with ADR.

This is a generic letter, called PAL or pre-arrival services. They usually send it a few weeks/months after AOR.

Yes I did sent them demand letter twice in the pas 3 months and got an approval from them to prove it as an application record on the court.
you should do the same thing I guess cause we must turn on the lights on them sooner than later.
there is a long backlog on the federal court immigration mandamus files but I can definitely see the people who are getting cleared after step 1 or step 2 mandamus.
you can hire a lawyer or do it yourself.
Thank you

Well, Canada is unfortunately a little behind to be called a DEVELOPED COUNTRY if the SS takes years specially when my background is only US and Europe.

Thank you for the response.

The security check doesn’t take long you are in a queue waiting for the security check to be done which will likely happen very quickly

Hello @Miss bee, i hope you are doing well. Quick question if you dont mind. I see on my tracker ( not the gc key) that it was updated 2 days ago but i do not see anything. What could be the reason behind it? I have requested gcms a few weeks ago... could that be the reason? Thanks!

The update you’re seeing on your tracker without any visible change is actually quite common with immigration applications. These are often referred to as “ghost updates,” where the system reflects an internal action taken by an officer—such as reviewing your file, updating notes, or moving it to the next stage—but no outward change is displayed on your portal. Since you mentioned that you recently requested your GCMS notes, that request itself does not usually trigger a visible update on your tracker, though it can sometimes coincide with internal activity on your file. In most cases, these silent updates are simply part of the background processing and don’t indicate a problem. It’s generally a positive sign that your application is being worked on, even if you can’t see the exact details yet.

Receiving a pre-arrival services letter from IRCC usually means that the eligibility stage of your permanent residency application has been reviewed and passed by an officer. Essentially, IRCC is confirming that you meet the basic requirements to immigrate and is inviting you to access free settlement services to help you prepare for life in Canada. While this is a strong indication that your application is moving in the right direction, it does not mean a final decision has been made yet. The next steps typically involve the completion of background and security checks, which can vary in length depending on your case and workload at IRCC. Since you just completed your medicals, biometrics, and ADR a couple of weeks ago, your file is likely still under review in those areas. For many applicants, a final decision and the passport request (PPR) can follow within a few weeks to a few months after receiving the pre-arrival letter, but the exact timeline differs from case to case.
