NOC Code Confusion!!

Hi all,

I need some details regarding the NOC code for the CEC application.

my first work-permit says my occupation as "Embedded software Engineer" (2173) and it got expired last year, after my work-permit extension came it shows " Computer Programmer"( 2174).

But, my actual work is related to "system analyst" (2171). I received my employment letter also related to system analyst.

Please tell me which code should I use for applying under CEC.

I had the same issue. My first work permit had 2174 and the second work permit had 2173. So I mentioned 2173 in my CEC application. Make sure job description in company letter should match the NOC that you mention in CEC application.

I feel your situation is a little complicated. You were in a closed work permit with NOC 2173 and 2174.
However you were performing duties corresponding to 2171 for which you were not authorized which may lead to rejection.
As per the CIC instructions you need to mention all NOCs in which you have worked and comes under 0, A or B category in your application. The same should reflect in your employment letter as well.
There is a high probability that your application will be refused if you enter any NOC other than 2173/2174.

mkapadia's situation is different as he was authorized to work under 2173.

If you are on a closed work permit you MUST use the NOC code related to your permit. Otherwise, it's dangerous waters... In your situation I wouldn't be overly worried as the duties are probably fairly similar.

Jsm is right. Duties are mostly same for all your NOCs. Select 2173/2174 as your NOCs in the application.
