This is what I personally call, adapting to a new normal. At least they are coming up with ideas to clear the backlog.
All options are available... Hopefully they will adopt more options...

I am just shocked to see that even with the high number of cases, the US still manages to do something about their citizenship process.

Americans are more flexible than Canadians in terms of execution of policy

For sure. Felons convicted of multiple serious offences granted clemency because they promise to remain silent about the President's corrupt secrets. Amidst wholesale hacking away at the rule of law generally. More than flexible. Albeit a flexibility favouring a rather small few at the great expense of many.

For sure. Why not shortcut the path to an ICU and the grave. The U.S. is indeed remarkably efficient in plowing ahead, damn-the-torpedoes one might say. Despite its population being less than 1/20th of the world's, the U.S. has MORE than 1/5th of the world's Covid-19 deaths . . . that is, FOUR TIMES, plus some, the number of deaths per capita than the ENTIRE rest of the world. Outpacing the biggest outbreaks in the world in such places as Brazil and India. With its approach being well on track to result in the greatest number of deaths from an event since its Civil War, which perhaps epitomizes the American brand of "unity" and progress, 600,000 Americans violently killed by other Americans, a mean-spirited and vicious rebellion whose flag still flies in so, so many places.

So, to be clear, what is happening in the U.S. today is hardly new. From the deeply entrenched corruption pervading federal and many state governments, to the dismally disparate availability of even basic health care, the gap between those who have versus those who have-not is a historical fixture in American society, buried in two centuries plus of lies, perpetrated by a larger than usual class of those who have, so as to enable the deception of near universal prosperity. Note, for example, that the U.S. has consistently imprisoned a vastly greater number of its citizens than the rest of the world, always rivaling and many times exceeding the numbers imprisoned in the most draconian police-states in the world. A clue one might say.

The overriding point, for purposes of this forum, is that Canada is not nearly so short-sighted as its bellicose neighbour to the south. Policies and practices intended to save lives rather than serve the impatience of a few narcissists should be applauded. I realize that many will allege this is probably easy for me to say, since I have obtained my Canadian citizenship. But there is enough of a pattern to recognize that much of the agitation for faster processing during this crisis comes from some (not all) with more interest in exploiting Canadian citizenship in contrast to becoming in-fact *citizens* of Canada (it is not likely a mere coincidence that among those most demanding progress in their citizenship application processing have international travel interests looming).

We should NOT be distracted or diverted by this. The vast majority of qualified applicants for Canadian citizenship, and I believe the majority of participants here, are sincerely, genuinely, honestly, and appreciatively pursuing Canadian citizenship to make this country their real home. And they share the country's interests in protecting its people from the ravages of this pandemic. And notwithstanding the profound inconveniences imposed by protective measures, are willing to proceed in due course with due consideration for all the ramifications, including having to wait longer for the next step in their path to becoming a Canadian citizen.

The current spate of we-want-it-now refrains is not the first time pepper-spray rhetoric disparaging Canada or Canadians has invaded this forum. Not likely to be the last. I would just like to assure the majority of forum visitors as well as participants, such views do not represent anywhere near a significant percentage of immigrants to this great country. The vast majority of us are overwhelmingly grateful that Canada has provided us a refuge from where we came from, and the opportunity to live a life more fulfilling and rewarding than we would have been able to otherwise.

Are you saying we do not have the right to express ourself and we should just keep quiet and wait ? And by doing so we are the bad apple? Do you know how the human race made all the progresses and improves the way we live ? By asking question, by questioning the system. Please everyone here understand why the lockdown happened. You are talking about grave and ICU, why almost all provinces are reopening ( allowing people to go to puplic pool, babeshop, malls, movie theater and more...) ? Every provincial government is reopening and allowing people to go back to their lives by putting in place guidelines, are they sending people to grave and ICU ? Why some people are allowed to go back to work and others are not allowed to go back to work ? These are questions we should be asking like it or not.

IRCC says, "We’re now inviting some applicants to do a video oath ceremony (citizenship ceremony). Please wait for us to contact you."

The above statement seems not only unprofessional, biased but also very confusing and misleading for the public, clients or stakeholders. IRCC does not specify any criteria as to who were those "some" applicants being invited for video oaths. I understand, IRCC is unable to give a timeline; but, at the very least, they must have outlined an eligibility criteria instead of putting all applicants in a blind and confused situation.

We should send our feedback to ircc to properly clarify the information made to public.

Senior members of this forum think we shouldn't be questioning the system like if Canada was a dictatorship country.

Senior members of this forum think we shouldn't be questioning the system like if Canada was a dictatorship country.

Example, Govt announced CERB benefits and they fully outlined and explained the eligibility criteria. In case of virtual oath ceremony announcement, why is the Govt/IRCC citing a blind (immature) statement which does not have any criteria? There is nothing to be hidden from the public. It's IRCC's duty to public to provide full, correct relevant and transparent information as to who are those "some" applicants to do a video oath ceremony.

I bet and challenge; nobody on this forum, any lawyer, any consultant, any intellectual or any think tank can exactly tell you who are those "some" applicants. Only IRCC knows. Why??? Is that something extremely secret or sort of classified information? My point of concern is why does only IRCC know? Why are the public, clients and stakeholders deprived of the information or criteria of being invited for a virtual oath ceremony?
