Advice noted. I don't particularly mind admiring the airport for hours.......I'm the typical wayfarer. As long as the in flight services are great, I'm game.......I can't imagine having no films to watch or magazines to browse on a 13hrs flight.....and they must serve a 3 course meal 8) 8)

Authentic legal marriage certificate is the same all over the country, however, some churches issue Marriage certificate that is not authentic thereby misleading the couple that they are legally married in the face of the law. Be that as it may, some churches, however, are given the legal right to issue marriage certificates, same as the one that is issued by the local govt registry. The couple must have gone through the normal process of notification at the local govt registry. This takes about 21 days. Catholic churches and Anglican churches are some of the churches that issue authentic marriage certificate. To be on the safe side, compare your certificate to that of anybody that got his/hers from local govt registry. If its same you can use. Although it will likely be same considering your church.

congratulations on the receipt of your PRV. To the best of my knowledge you do not need a transit visa except you want to leave the airport during the waiting period before you catch the connecting flight. what province are you flying to?

Also to be on a safer side (especially when you will be connecting via Istanbul on a one way ticket), you can make inquiries about Transit visas before buying their tickets. You can either do this at the airport or at their Office in V/I.

I plead to differ with your submission. All applications I had made to embassies for visa had always included my Nikkah (Islamic marriage) certificate as an evidence of my marriage status. And none has ever be turned down.

More so, for fsw application you will need to notaries all copies of documents you are putting in. This (notarization) by itself is a prove that whatever certificate that had passed through it is legally tenable within your country.

Others can contribute pls.

Dcrest is very correct. I used my Nikkah marriage certificates to obtain visas to UK and four different Schengen countries several times. I also used same for my FSW Applications with final approval of PPR. I am convinced a church marriage certificate will be acceptable as proof of marriage union for the FSW application purpose. Your comment and opinion on notarized copies of such certificates also carries my support as I share same opinion. Clearly, you are on point!

Agreed but their air hostesses can be snubs sometimes (my experience). Also, study ur itinerary very well in order no to need extra help in finding ur ways while trying to connect, otherwise u might be surprised that the 1st random ppl u tried to talk to don't even speak English including the police.... lol Other than these little things, there are no big issues with Turkish Airline.

Thanks, Anvaller.....that's another thing to consider. Haven't been to Istanbul before, and I don't speak turkish....that can be a nightmare. But including the Police???!!!!! Wow.......I will just have to make sure the connecting flight is not too close to the arrival time of my Lagos flight....
I really have to think about this very well. Nothing spoils a nice vacation experience faster than language difficulties

I'm a complete novice in matters of marriage certificates and their authenticity......but I will like to draw your attention to the statement that dcrest made concerning notarization.....
I will beg to differ on your statement, dcrest..... Notarization does not assure authenticity. It just tells whoever is receiving it, that it is a CERTIFIED TRUE COPY of the original that was seen by the officer who notarized. There is no way in the world, that my university degree certificates could be said to be original just by being notarized. The receiving officer can only be sure if the notarized copies are forwarded to the awarding institution to be authenticated. They will then look into their records of awards, and also compare the notarized copy with their own baseline originals. If they are not satisfied, or if the copy is not clear, they will then request for the original copy, to check inbuilt securities.
Now, that said, I think the real issues here are "Does CIC accept marriage certificates from Catholic church?", "Has anyone been rejected because of marriage certificate?", "Does anyone know anyone who has?"
Everyone who submitted marriage certificates from churches or mosques should answer, pls.......

Ekundapsy has made a very valid point in this issue of notarization.Personally, I did not notarize any of my documents because there was no instruction from cic in that direction, at a point in time I was afraid it might affect my application because many people were notarizing their documents but by the grace of God, I have recieved PER.But it may make sense to do it anyway because the officers that handle these applications are different individuals with biased opinions.
