Honestly I like to be optimistic but seems like this is how they reject the visa request. Last month I got my mother and father visa approved and received biometric letter at the same time as passport request letter. However this is not the end of the word
How do you convince a VO based on family ties, personal assets... I'm still a student, I have no property yet to my name. Only son of my parents with two sisters... never had any international travels to my passport... I'm hoping Canada would be the first... how do I explain to the VO of all these... there's no place in the form to fill out or show reason to the above mentioned... or what docs can I submit to convince themYou will get it.. Visa's can be processed in any country. Where a background check is required, it is done by the applicant's country, and any other countries that the applicant lived for 6+months. So in your case, just because the file was processed in Kenya, it does not mean the background check (which is not normally done for visitor's visa) was done in Kenya (unless you lived there at one point)
"I submitted an account statement of (23k to 24k cad$)": were these funds in your account for awhile (savings) or were they deposited for the purpose of visa application?
I have no relative in Canada so how do I intend to stay, like I said I'm still a student I cant possibly leave 4years out of 5year behind: Many have overstayed their visits with the same profile. Sometimes just mentioning that you are a student, or you have parents might not be enough. You need to show how these 2 are so important to you that you will have to return to them (frustrating right?). It is often more difficult for people who are single, with no children and no assets to prove ties back home.
Purpose of visit: Did you explain how/why the mentioned seminar is important to you, and how it is relevant to what you are studying? Why you need to go to Canada for the specific seminar (why not attend one in Nigeria or any other country). I've seen a lot of refusals to attend seminars on this forum, I wonder why. It can be discouraging

But I have my exams to come back I'm almost at the finish line in less than 12months I would be a graduate. Definitely I don't plan to overstay. I'm the only son of my parents, which makes me more tired to them ... is there anyway of showing that?
Purpose of visit. If there's a section for explanation I would or how can I.... it is my finals project topic and given the opportunity to present it and also publish I decided to attend the conference... it has a lot of relationship with what I'm studying. It's not something that was planned, the opportunity just came.Not that I needed to attend a conference in Canada
In the letter explaining your purpose of visit...That's where you explain why you want to go to Canada (for the specific conference), why/how its important, your intent to return home etc
I know that your ties to your home country is weak.. But be optimistic, anything positive can happen...
Yes you need to include an loe (letter of explanation). If you apply online, there is a part called client information (that's where you attach your LOE). If you apply on paper you just attach it with your other documents.
