Hi there,
Me & my wife are going to apply for federal skilled worker immigration in a couple of day from now. As, per my understanding & what I have been reading here a lot, the're gonna be new rules for skilled category with special preference or entire preference being given to jobs in demand or which are termed 'good'.

My wife (primary applicant) is a senior chef de partie/junior sous chef which #6241 (NOC) which is being termed 'fair' which is exactly between 'good' & 'limited'. I am really worried about our standing as the new rules are yet to be published, as it seems the priority would be given to only 38 (noc) jobs in demand out of the 40 something which were being mentioned as 'good' (in demand). I would like you to kindly outline where our standing would be or what you assume would happen to our application? Thanks in advance!

Hi rupesh,
Well, it's from what I saw in this link while going through & researching the discussions in the blog here:

http://www.jobfutures.ca/noc/browse-occupations-work_prospects-Good-2009.shtml

If you type in NOC#6241 for chef's it will show up as 'fair'....

so, I have the same concern as I mentioned in my writing before! Kindly advise!

for some reason it works with

If you type Cooking (T810)....& go search

it shows up as limited for cooks

chef's 'fair'

Advise!

Nobody knows until the new rules show up. Occupations not on the list of 38 might be disqualified completely or might stay on with slower processing. A chef or any other skilled worker, whether in demand or not will always have the option of trying to get a job and work permit and immigrating that way.
