Hello everyone,

I'm sponsoring my spouse for PR and he got an e-mail from CIC asking for the Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ). They're giving us 45 days to e-mail that document to them otherwise "a decision will be made based on the information on your file, which could result in the refusal of your application".

My question is: do they mean 45 calendar days or 45 business days?

The reason I'm asking is because when reading the guide to apply for the CSQ, Quebec says their processing time to give us an answer is "25 business days" (35 calendar days) and that is not including mailing it out and/or receiving the answer.

Any clarification on this would really be appreciated. Thank you. ???

Thank you for your reply. That does make it a bit tight depending how fast Quebec can mail the answer. I hope we'll get the answer in time. :(

CIC will extend the deadline if you show them that you have applied and are waiting on the CSQ.

You can show proof that you have applied for the CSQ and request an extension of time to submit it by explaining it won't arrive within the given timeline.

Perfect! Then that's what we'll do. If we don't receive the CSQ by the deadline, we will send an e-mail showing the proof that we applied and we will send the CSQ to CIC when we receive it.
Thank you so much for your help. :)

That sounds good. It's good to know that it is possible to get an extension if you can't get the document within the given time frame. I really appreciated it. :)
