Hi everyone,
I’m trying to better understand how the CEC (Canadian Experience Class) work experience requirement is calculated, and I’d really appreciate your help.
Here’s my situation:
My question is: Will I meet the required 1,560 hours (or 52 weeks of full-time work) for CEC eligibility?
Here’s how I’ve been calculating it, but I’m not sure if it’s correct:
So in total, that gives me about 52 working weeks, but if I look strictly at calendar weeks, I might be short by a couple of days.
Would this small gap (a couple of days short in calendar time) affect my eligibility, or is it strictly based on total hours worked (1,560 hours)?
I’m trying to better understand how the CEC (Canadian Experience Class) work experience requirement is calculated, and I’d really appreciate your help.
Here’s my situation:
- I worked full-time (37.5 hours/week) from June 23, 2025 to April 17, 2026.
- Unfortunately, I was laid off after that.
- I’ve now started a new contract position from May 1, 2026 to July 3, 2026 (about 2 months).
My question is: Will I meet the required 1,560 hours (or 52 weeks of full-time work) for CEC eligibility?
Here’s how I’ve been calculating it, but I’m not sure if it’s correct:
- From June 23, 2025 to mid-April 2026, I estimate about 42 weeks + 5 days of work.
- I counted this as 43 working weeks, since I completed 30 hours in that partial week.
- For the new contract, I estimate 9 weeks of work (May 1 to July 3).
So in total, that gives me about 52 working weeks, but if I look strictly at calendar weeks, I might be short by a couple of days.
Would this small gap (a couple of days short in calendar time) affect my eligibility, or is it strictly based on total hours worked (1,560 hours)?
