Hi everyone,

I’m trying to better understand how the CEC (Canadian Experience Class) work experience requirement is calculated, and I’d really appreciate your help.

Here’s my situation:

  • I worked full-time (37.5 hours/week) from June 23, 2025 to April 17, 2026.
  • Unfortunately, I was laid off after that.
  • I’ve now started a new contract position from May 1, 2026 to July 3, 2026 (about 2 months).

My question is: Will I meet the required 1,560 hours (or 52 weeks of full-time work) for CEC eligibility?

Here’s how I’ve been calculating it, but I’m not sure if it’s correct:

  • From June 23, 2025 to mid-April 2026, I estimate about 42 weeks + 5 days of work.
  • I counted this as 43 working weeks, since I completed 30 hours in that partial week.
  • For the new contract, I estimate 9 weeks of work (May 1 to July 3).

So in total, that gives me about 52 working weeks, but if I look strictly at calendar weeks, I might be short by a couple of days.

Would this small gap (a couple of days short in calendar time) affect my eligibility, or is it strictly based on total hours worked (1,560 hours)?
