Hi,

This is an emergency situation for me and I am writing you with the hope of getting some assistance from you.

I am a PhD student of a Canadian University. I am a permanent resident of Canada and my permanent residence status was issued on 24th May, 2013. At that time, I was given a document showing Confirmation of Permanent Residence. But afterwards I did not receive my PR card.

I left Canada for visiting Bangladesh on 5th December, 2014. Now, yesterday I had flight from Dhaka, Bangladesh to Toronto with Emirates airlines, but the immigration people did not accept the document that shows the Confirmation of Permanent Residence as a valid travel document. Consequently, I did not able to travel and just got stuck in Bangladesh now. As my new academic term is going to start very soon, I am extremely concerned about this.

Now, given this situation, I am wondering, what would be the best and FASTEST solution for my case. Please advise me at your earliest convenience.

Thanks,

Das

Your COPR shows: Not valid for travel.

You need either a valid PR card, or a PR travel document, which you can apply for at the nearest consulate.

You really should have contacted CIC when you did not receive your PR a year and a half later.

Apply for travel document from your canada consulate office.

Yes, I should have. That was the deadliest mistake I made :(. Could you please give me some idea about how many days it could take for getting the travel document? Thank you so much for the helpful response.

It could take anywhere from 2 to 5 months

1. The OP applies for a TD to Singapore http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/singapore-singapour/visas/tdpr_apply-demande_tvrp.aspx?lang=eng
2. S/he has to apply through the VAC at Dhaka http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/Bangladesh/index.html
3. The posted processing time is 14 days. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/singapore-singapour/visas/Processing_Time-Delais_estimes.aspx?lang=eng

They say it takes 14 days but realistically its a whole different story
