My file number changed from a Bxxxx to an Fxxxxx

I talked to immigration here in Canada today and they told me that the "F" number is not something that Canada uses. It would be unique to what ever embassy you are dealing with. Your "B" number should still be active and in use. If you think you are having problems, or anyone, the suggestion was to send a nice polite email to the embassy you are going through and ask them about the "b" number and the problems you have encountered.

I had a B file for a while , my initial application was denied , took us over a year to get the appeal approved. after appeal was approved , file went back to the embassy to be re-process outside of Canada , thats when the file changed from a B file to and F file. apparently im not alone getting files number that start with an F. i read somewhere that once the file get denied and you go to thru the appeal process , the file will disappear from ECAS. and then it will be available to review with the new file number.

the strange part is that the system only recognizes B files and does not recognize the F file. sending an email to the embassy will take about 28 working days to get a response , and usually their response is that they will contact you if they need any additional information.

the file number starting with F is for the CIC office which controls your application nd its not ur file number as far as i knw i received my documents having my file number starting with B nd also the CIC office file number which started from F. wher are u applying frm nd under which category ?

Landed immigrant , my wife is sponsoring me , the file is in Mexico City , files usually start with a BXXXXX , had a B file , after appeal was allowed , the first email from the embassy was to request a new application and to let me know that the file changed from a B xxx file to and F XXXX file , basically lett ing me know that all new information i send to have the new file number.

do not worry these immigration stuffz ar getting more nd more complicated eve day , so dnt worry nd hopefully u will get the visa soon , jst a change of file number is nothing serious as long as u can do inquiries nd communicate using the new file number ..

B file no longer works. Embassy in Mexico City told me about the change of File number , from B to an F file.

Nope.

My wife's file is a B file. Maybe it means you get a "F" for "forward, while our file (with no action for more than a year) means "backward".

i got it today dear , n i did check my ecas status , thy said tye receive my application on 23rd aug , n medical results received.........
i m hopin it meant f= forward.... wat do say ?

my medicals are going to expire in 13 days , not sure if they will able to finish the whole process , i dont think so , I had a B file , we went thru an appeal and my file number changed , which embassy are u dealing with ?

MIne has been in process like any other case , i dont think they give any priority. My appeal was won on Sept 2010 and still dealing with the mebassy in Mexico
