I'm filling out the EOI application under the International Education Stream. The form asks for settlement funds ($10,000 for the principal applicant + $2,000 per family member).

However, the MPNP website states that for IES applicants, proof of settlement funds can be satisfied either by having $10,000+ in a bank account or by holding a long-term full-time position in Manitoba.

I have a permanent full-time job in Manitoba, so I meet the employment-based alternative. My question is about the form itself: how do you handle the settlement funds field in this case? Do you enter $0 or still enter your actual bank balance? I have nowhere near $10,000 at this moment.

Has anyone navigated this successfully?

Don't enter $0 — enter your actual bank balance, whatever it is. The form field is there for everyone, but the eligibility criteria are what matter. Since you have a permanent full-time job in Manitoba, you qualify under the employment-based alternative.

When you get to the document upload stage, include a recent pay stub or employment letter alongside your bank statement. That way the officer can clearly see you meet the requirement through employment rather than savings. Some people also add a brief note in the additional info section explaining which settlement funds pathway they're relying on, just to make it obvious.

The key thing is don't leave it blank or put $0 — that could flag your application unnecessarily. Put your real balance and let the supporting docs tell the full story.
