Quick question if anyone can help me it would be appreciated we've been asked for a Mexican police check apparently the Canadian embassy in Mexico inquires it for us we have not received a letter do we still mail fingerprints and pictures or do we need to wait for a letter
Hello Angeles87mike77,

When we got the request for my husband's PGR the officer sent us this info. As my husband is living in Mexico he requested his PGR personally, so we are not sure how is it to get them from outside Mexico but I hope that this info below helps you.

Please provide the following original police certificate for you:

Federal Police Certificate (Constancia de Antecedentes Registrales) issued by the Procuraduría General de la República (PGR) *Mexican state police certificates will not be accepted

If you live in Mexico:

To obtain the Federal police certificate issued by the PGR an official signed letter is attached to this e-mail. You must deliver the letter to your nearest PGR office.

If you live outside of Mexico:

The Canadian Embassy in Mexico will request a police certificate on your behalf after you provide all of the following:

1. Two sets of original fingerprints that meet these standards:

· rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink

· full name, date of birth and sex of the applicant

· the name and address of the police agency where the fingerprints were taken

· the signature of the officer taking the fingerprints and the client’s signature

Note: Please make sure the name on fingerprint forms is the same

as the one in the passport bio-page or photo ID. Fingerprint forms should not have anything crossed out or amendments.

To have your fingerprints taken:

· In Canada: Contact a fingerprinting agency, or visit your local police station.

· In any other country: Visit your local police station. In some countries the Mexican Embassy or Consulate will be able to assist you. )

2. Three passport-size (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) photographs of front profile (no makeup, earrings, glasses, or facial hair – no exceptions)

3. Three passport-size (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) photographs of right profile (no makeup, earrings, glasses, or facial hair – no exceptions)

4. One clear, legible copy of your passport bio-page (with your picture and full name)

5. Quote your file number, name of visa office, Canadian embassy or consulate or Case Processing Centre where your file is being processed, your full name and date of birth.

Note: You do not need to send any other documents or to provide any payments.

Please send all five items to:

Embassy of Canada, Immigration Section Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 193, Col. Granada

Del. Miguel Hidalgo, C.P. 11520, Mexico D.F. MEXICO

Did you call CIC explaining your situation? if not, I highly recommend you to do it and find out the option straight from CIC . . .

We did and they told us to email the Canadian embassy in Mexico. We did but it's been a month now and we haven't heard from them yet. I'm worried honestly.

Congrats!! :)

My husband also got PPR while he was visiting me in Canada. We used UPS to send his passport, got it back about 2 weeks later. Then he did his “landing” at the office here in Ottawa. If you’re somewhere else in Canada, you can call CIC to set up an appointment at the closest office to you. If you’re in Ottawa, or close enough, you don’t need an appointment. Let me know and I can send you the info :)

Hey caroM

So if you want to land in Ottawa, here is the procedure. It is a first come/first serve office so no appointment needed. The office is at 235 Queen Street, Level C3, Office 005. They only do PR landings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, between 10am and 2pm. You must bring 2 pictures for your PR card, dimensions are on the CIC website. Your sponsor should go with you. A copy of your marriage certificate would be a good idea and/or proof that you two live at the same address.

Good luck :)

We applied on the old system (September 2016) and our application took just over 12 months.. which I think is ballpark average processing time. Just to give you an idea. My husband is from Guatemala and just landed today :)
Congrats! Quick question, my husband send received email last tuesday requesting passport to be send to embaasy in Mexico, they received it yesterday, and on the email we got it says he has until jan 6th 2017 to enter canada, * thats when the visa expires * he is also from Guatemala, based on your timeline do u think he'll get his passport on time? Its so nervewrecking
