Cause for Concern?

I am the Canadian sponsor of my Nicaraguan wife.

I received sponsorship approval from CPC-Mississagua May 2014 and confirmation that the CIC Visa Office in Mexico is where the application would be headed next.

ECAS states that my wife's application has been 'in progress' since June 2014, however, there have been no updates from CIC Visa Office Mexico... no AOR, no medical documents received, no nothing!

All medical and police documents were included. All fees paid in advance. There are no underlying or complicating issues e.g. prior marriages, kids, etc.

Would anyone care to speculate as to what has happened?

I note that many others in this forum (on the same timeline as us) have had their Visas processed already >_<

You definitely need to contact Mexico VO to find out what has happened with your wife´s application.
Has she not received any notification by mail or email?
I think you need to contact them immediately as it has taken way too long after your SA.

Ok. I've emailed them - no response. And will try calling (although they say not to unless strictly necessary or prior to the full 17 month estimated processing time?)

I just got an email yesterday that they want to do an interview. Kinda weird though cause my husband lives in Costa rica and they want to do the interview in El Salvador. Anyone ever heard of this before. It's going to be a significant financial inconvenience but its not like they're giving us a choice. Do you think someone made a mistake? Has anyone heard of anyone having to travel outside of their home country for an interview? Is this common practice with the Mexico office.

Hi everyone! I'm a bit confused with the fees.

Which option do I have to choose?
Family Class
or
Spouse and Common-Law Partner in Canada Class

And also (if I don't have extra family member with me) how much would be the total?

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. Excited to post that our Family Class Spousal application package was couriered to Mississauga yesterday, Friday, January 16th, 2015 and is scheduled for delivery to the Case Processing Centre on Monday, January 19th, 2015. ;D Nervous and excited. Dampened by the fact that they have increased sponsorship approval times from 61 days to 81 days. Oh well, at least on Monday we will be in the queue. Best of luck to all you who are waiting for a positive result!

Hi Lorrein,

I am Canadian (sponsor) and my wife mexican (principal Applicant). no kids. As for the fees I paid $1040 in fees, which included Sponsorship Application $75, Principal Applicant $475.00, and Right to Permanent Residence Fee $490.00.

Hope that helps! I asked you a question the the other forum thread about why you are sending your application to Mexico City. If someone is sponsoring you or vice versa the application must be sent to Mississauga for the sponsorship approval first then they will forward your application to Mexico city. To the best of my knowledge...

Hi, can anybody update the Mexico spreadsheet? Seems like no one is giving maintenance and it is not updated, many names repeat at the bottom. I see a name Tricia-Chile repeated 16 times with different info every time
Please, the document is helpful to everyone, can somebody update it or should we start a new one?
Thanks for your comments.

Hi fabibeach.

It looks like tricia-chile copied her name down over the names of other applicants. Those other applicants would have to go into the spreadsheet and update their names. The affected applicants were for applications submitted between Jan 1, 2013 and Sept. 30, 2014. Hopefully these people will update the spreadsheet.

I just entered my information in the spreadsheet. It seems to work ok after I copied down the formulas in the appropriate columns for the calculations. I added the link to my signature line if you want quick access to it.

PGR Letter

How long after the email stating that a police certificate (PGR) was needed and that "an official signed letter is being sent via e-mail today" did you actually receive said official letter?

I got the request on 1/28, but still haven't received the letter for PGR... Is this normal? Should I wait 10 days before sending a prepaid airway bill? Waiting 30 days is way out of my comfort zone ;D

Hi
I got the same email a while back and if you open the file they sent you the letter is included. You take it to your nearest PGR and they will accept it as an official letter. If they say no, you need to reply back to the email and let the officer know that wont accept it and tell him the exact address you went and take down name and number. My husband went the first time and they said no in Aguascaliente that they want a letter with the stamp not just the email. So i decided to email the officer and he replied in 24 hours letting me know he spoke with them amd that they will now accept it.

Good luck

1 Husband ETA - August 1, 2015!
Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie to the forum. I applying to sponsor my husband, application received Sept 15, 2014. They came back asking for new photos signed & dated which wasn't in the guide and CIC admits this is their own oversight. I had my MP fight to get me my spot back in line but they still did not complete Part 1 approval until Jan 23, 2015.

I see you are tracking processing times, and I'm wondering if anyone has a more current update, since the last quarterly update is 2 quarters old?

Also, we applied with a medical exam however it is expiring soon. He has to travel about a days drive to Mexico City for another medical, should we wait to asked for another, or get one when his expires? And when in the process do they usually ask for this so he can be prepared financially for the cost of travel and the medical?
