Now I'm a bit confused.
Should we send the original birth certificate with the application? Because it looks like you need you birth certificate to get the Police records.

Can anyone tell me the best thing to do?

It's relatively simple* to get birth certificate certified copies (what they call "originals" in Mexico) so you can send a certified copy with the application and get another one for the PGR to get the police certificate. Now that the PGR allows you to use one issued within the last 5 years (used to have to be same calendar year) you can just request them both at once from the Registro Civil at the same time.

* Registro Civil office, by mail in some states, kiosks in supermarkets and other public places in some states, etc

I have my husbands birth certificate with me in Canada because I'm putting together the application package. He requested it online last year. I guess he can request another one when he goes to get his PGR. We were hoping his mother can pick it up (pgr) so he doesn't have make another trip to Mexico City.

Yes, he's going to have to. Page 7 of the latest country specific instructions specifically states "Birth and marriage certificates must be Government-certified true copies (copies certified as authentic by the issuing governmental authority, signed and sealed)." for documents issued in Mexico and a series of other countries

For the PGR he's going to have to go in person so they can take his fingerprints on the spot (unless he lives abroad). Depending on where he is, there may be a closer office, though (they used to only issue them in Mexico City but now most state offices issue them also - Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán y Zacatecas have offices to issue the PGR in addition to Mexico City). His Mother could probably pick it up with a power of attorney.

Have him check http://www.pgr.gob.mx/Servicios/Constancia/antecedentes%20registrales.asp and http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp before he goes - the instructions have evolved a few times in the past few years.

Last thing just to make everything is sure, for now..

Are there any income requirements for her since she is the one sponsoring me? she is 19, works full time minimal wage

Do you need to pay something in order to sponsor someone or like having certain amount of money?

i ask this again because we want to make sure there are no income requirements for spousal because someone here told me there are NO income requirements that you only sign a paper compromising yourself to help your partner, we dont want her to be denied to become a sponsor!. According to her brothers you need to have at least 10 thousands and support your partner for 5 years and that it takes more than 5 years the process to become a PR..
I dont think you will have any problems , my husband is 19 now and we started this whole sponsor thing while we were both 18 and he was approved as a sponsor while being 18 :) & he hasnt support me for 5 years or anything like that either & I dont think it takes 5 yeats to become a PR i think it will at least take like 2 years or maybe less

Well like I said before in my case they asked for my husband's (sponsor) birth cert. Apparently is better if you send it at the beginning with the rest of the documents, plus send the photocopy of sponsor's passport. Like always CIC instructions are not clear.

Now I'm waiting for my PGR letter to get to me, apparently they couldn't match the waybill I sent so now I'll have to wait to it comes to regular mail and pray for it not to take so long or get lost. Yeah almost 50 bugs lost anyway.

I'm being positive so I feel its going to be here soon ;D.

I asked in a thread if its OK for me to send the short form birth certificate and most of the people said that's the one they sent, so I already have it scan waiting for it to be sent along with police certificate.

You are getting your PGR with just a scan of your birth certificate?

YEs bibitte you should start your request for the CSQ. You just need to attach your sponsorship approval (letter confirmation you received) as the proof Immigration Québec is asking for to make sure you're approved as sponsor by CIC.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for people who are going through similar situations as mine. The passport was sent mid-October and our status changed to decision made last Friday. We haven't get yet a clear confirmation that the passport is at destination, the Embassy. What would be the next steps? Is it normal that it take more than a month to get the passport back? Moreover, we haven't been able to buy the mail return service as per the instructions, so I am getting a bit nervous about this...

Merci :)

I don't know if they would send the passport back by regular mail, if they did according to my brother and dad ( I asked that last nite to them since I'm waiting for pgr letter) it may take a month. The problem is regular mail is not reliable and it could get lost. I would send a Case Enquire or call them and ask what's going on.

If they haven't send it back I'll make sure to send a guia prepagada ( prepaid air waybill) from a courier, it's safest.
It takes between 2 or 3 weeks have it back with a courier service I don't know by regular mail.
