Hiii, !!

I'm new over here...
I.m glad to see that i'm not alone in that situation :)

I'.m sponsoring my wife from mexico...
she lives in tijuana...
I sent the papers at mississauga on april 10...
how do i add my information on the spreadsheets :)

tks so much !!! :)

Welcome! :)

I'm from Tijuana as well! Remember she will have to get an FBI police clearance, which takes a month or two to get. I would recommend her to get the document as soon as she can to avoid any delays. If you have any questions we're all here to help!

This is kind of off topic, but does anyone know how long it takes to renew a mexican passport in mexico?

Same day (at least that's how it was in Tijuana) but you have to call to get an appointment.

I didn't know you were from Tijuana. This is off topic as well, but is it safe to visit Tijuana?

FBI police clearance ? Even if she never left mexico Us? My wife do not have the visa that allows her to cross the border. It is kind of extra requirement ? How do you obtain that ?

Regarding the visits to Tijuana i feel safe over there when i visit my wife. Ive been there over 10 times :) since a knew her... I usually go there to visit her every 3-4 month.... :)

She will require it because she's from a border state, I have never lived in the USA either and I was asked to provide one. CIC won't tell you until they actually need it, which is annoying because they made me waste a month. Go here and start reading on it:

TSauretBaxter, Tijuana is safe nowadays. I now live in Mexico City but my family is still there and they tell me things have calmed down a lot, so no biggie there! :)

I wonder if everyone from Tijuana is required to do FBI clearance or if it is case by case?

is Tijuana safe..
I have been in mexico, in puebla city to be exact with my spouse for the last 4 months visiting.
and i read the news every single day. and i havent heard one thing about crime in tijuana or anything near that area, so i would agree i think tijuana has calmed down alot and seems to be a safe city again.
even being here in puebla, i only heard of a couple crimes, but they are all in very small towns.
it would definatly be safe for you to visit your wife in tijuana. :)
good luck with your process!!

Thanks, it's my husband actually who is Mexican. He is from Puebla originally too. He's in Yucatan now though. But I wanted to take a trip to Tijuana. He said it was safe.. but it's nice to hear it from people that know the city more. I just assumed that places close to the border were the most dangerous.

oh im so sorry! i must have read it too quickly.
yeah same here. before i came here my finance he always told me yeah mexico is safe dont worry. but i always heard bad stories about anywhere that wasnt a resort lol. so i was nervous coming here. but now its been four months and i never once felt unsafe and we have been one a couple road trips too. the toll highways are safe aswell. as far as i know now most of the crime is going on in the south. you dont hear much about the border cities surprisingly.

anways its safer than i was expecting so you should definatly go visit your husband! you will enjoy it! ;D

We saw in the news last night that people in Mexico City are buying armored cars and that they want the new President to make them feel safer because the crime is so bad.

really?
i never saw that one, i just heard about the feds shooting two local officers at the airport last week.
but i have some friends going to school in mexico city and they dont feel unsafe, i mean if you live in the bad areas thats a different story. (but same in every city).

do you know where you were reading this? i would like to know the story. im going to google it and see if i can find the story. :)

I think alot of it is US media hype, but having said that my fiance has seen/heard 4 shootings now in Zapopan over the last couple of months (just outside GDL), one was his neigbour, another couple about 4 blocks away and another in thier area. Although I guess the thing to remember is that you will probably be privy to just as many shootings in any large US city, or canadian city for that matter ( 3 shootings in my neighborhood this year so far in Vancouver). So its all a matter of revelance. Like in Vancouver, much of the violence is targeted and does not affect the average joe, except things like when my mother-in-law couldnt go to walmart because someone had been shot in the parking lot, she just went home and did her shopping later. I have felt just as safe in Mexico as I do here and I find most people will say the same.

Now the interesting thing will be to see what happens with the elections now over, there is a lot of people wanting change, I wouldnt be suprised if you see a bit of a revolution amongst the common people, but thats just my two cents :)

We watched it on the TV but here is a news article. I haven't read it just did a search for Mexico City and armored cars.
