I really hope so, Leisa. I´m really dissapointed at how long it takes for the whole process. My husband had to miss the birth of our first daughter and in 4 months she will be turning a year old and i don´t want him to miss out on that either :(

Awe wow, that would be so hard!!
We want to have kids as well, but we didn't want to try during the process for that exact reason.
first off its nice to have hubby around during the pregnancy, and the birth of a child is such a beautiful thing, I wouldn't want him to miss that!!. :(
I hope he will be home in time for the 1st birthday!! that would be amazing!
:)

Congratulations on the end of your long and effortful process Leisa! what a releif for you and I'm sure for everyone here to see your happy ending once and for all. If you have a chance in all your preparations, I would love the contact information for the lady who helped you getting the RCMP clearance. Let me know how we can exchange that info : ) Thank you and congratulations again, you've been a wonderful source of information and support to this little community as you've been living through your own ordeal.

Hi Everyone!

I've got a question regarding credit background checks for Mexicans living in Canada...

If a Mexican who has just moved to Canada wants to immediately apply for a bank loan, how will the bank know if he/she has good or bad credit? In Canada, what is the procedure for a credit background check for Mexicans whose bank accounts are still in Mexico? And what happens if they have an unpaid Mexican credit card from a Mexican bank?

Thanks!

I don't think they check Mexican credit. But they'll have to get a secured credit card. My husband got a capital one credit card. $300 cash for a $300 limit. Royal Bank made me give $1000 for a $1000 credit limit and they check US credit and mine is good. So you have to hand over a deposit at first. Just before a year was up I got a PC financial credit card for $2000 with no deposit. Kinda sucks to start again. I have US credit cards with a $10,000 limit.

Scotiabank gave me an unsecured visa credit card with a $1,000 initial limit soon after I landed. The scene card, it's called.

Does anyone have experience with getting a drivers license in Alberta after landing. Are there any documents needed from Mexico?
