We never got our letter of sponsorship approval. But, they did verify our approval over the phone. They will not resend a letter for 5 (?) weeks but by that time we had gotten an AOR from Mexico City so I didn't bother. It would have been nice to get though!

The good news is, you're approved! Congrats!

Hey guys, quick question....

Today, I checked the application status on the CIC website. Where it says: Sponsorship Application Status, it has decision made, I clicked on it and it gives me this:


We received your application to sponsor Oscar on November 9, 2012.
We started processing your application on January 28, 2013.
We sent you a letter on January 28, 2013 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We haven't recived any letter yet, should we call? or do you think it was because of the CSQ? (which we called today the MICC and the undertaking and CSQ were aproved on March 6th)

Any input aprecciated!

While it would be nice to have it to see, it has three purposes: tell you they've transferred application to a certain visa office, the sponsor's UCI but if you were able to log-in to ecase you have that already, and that you need to let CIC know if your situation changes (family, work, etc). You may receive the e-mail if the systems aren't exactly in synch or the letter may be in the mail.

You can call and if you ask nicely they may give you the decision on the phone (though it's inconsistent).

Today we got our PPR. I am so happy I could have run down to Mexico City to hand my wifes passport in myself. It an interesting journey. Hopefully by this time next week we should have my wifes passport back. We are going to be doing a flag pole landing shortly after that in Niagara falls.

I would like to thank everyone for their advice and knowledge about this process. It has been most valuable.

Very small/simple wedding with no family and no reception. We did briefly explain why on the application, but I think it may be a reason for them to request an interview, who knows. We've had a relationship for 12 years though, so we focused all of our proof on that rather than on the wedding itself.

The wedding is more relevant for relationships that are much shorter since there's limited other evidence. Twelve years together has a lot of different proof you can use so I wouldn't worry about the small wedding unless there's something else tied to it that you think would make a stranger go 'hmmm...this is weird...what's the logic in this...is it a spousal-like relationship or more like a frienship/acquantance?' when they see the entirety of your relationship evidence.

Am I reading this correctly??? You sent your application to Citizenship and Immigration in October 2012 and you already got the passport request?? You're going to be around the five-month mark for step 2... in the luckiest 20%!! I feel extreme envy and happiness for you at the same time!

There was nothiing special on CIC side that slowed anything down. No ARC, no interview. My wife had over stayed a student visa for 6 months but was never on CBSA's radar.

What did slow us down was our lawyer's secretary forgot to send a letter on our behalf saying it would take a lot of work to get the SSP police clearence. They ended up asking for it again. Thankfully, no one ended up having to go to Mexico City.
